Koreans Sweep Turin Short Track Speedskating Events

outh Koreans won all the races at a short track speedskating World Cup with victories by Song Kyung-taek, Sung Si-bak, Yang Shin-young and Shin Sae-bom on Saturday.

     Song won the men's 1,000 meters in 1 minute 26.216 seconds, ahead of compatriot Ahn Hyun-soo in 1:27.469, and Jordan Malone of the United States in 1:27.729.

     Sung was fastest in the 1,500 with a time of 2:17.502, followed by Charles Hamelin of Canada in 2:17.811, and Yuri Confortola of Italy in 2:17.939.

     In the women's events, Yang clinched the 1,000 in 1:33.764, beating fellow South Korean Jin Sun-yu in 1:33.865 and Katherine Reutter of the United States in 1:34.008.

     Shin won the 1,500, clocking 2:25.420. Kalyna Roberge of Canada was second in 2:25.551 and Park Seung-hi of Korea was third in 2:25.612.

     Racing continues on Sunday, with the 500 and 1,500 individual events, and the 3,000 and 5,000m relays.
