Yao's Monster Night Boosts Rockets Past Sonics

ao Ming had 30 points and 17 rebounds, Tracy McGrady added 17 points and five assists and the Houston Rockets beat Seattle 96-89 for the SuperSonics' team-record 11th consecutive NBA loss on Monday.

     Wally Szczerbiak and Jeff Green had 15 points apiece for Seattle, riding the longest single-season losing streak in team history. The Sonics lost 12 consecutive games across the end of the 1968-69 season and the start of 1969-70.

     The Sonics, who've lost 10 straight road games, trailed only 53-52 at halftime. But they missed 14 of their first 20 shots in the third quarter and the Rockets stretched the lead to 12.

     Hornets 106, Bucks 92.

     At New Orleans, Tyson Chandler had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and New Orleans won its fifth straight game.

     Four of Chandler's baskets came on alley-oop dunks, three set up by Chris Paul, who finished with 16 points and 10 assists.

     Michael Redd led Milwaukee with 19 points, scoring only two in the second half. He missed his last nine shots of the game. Andrew Bogut had 13 points and 15 rebounds for his sixth straight double-double.

     Wizards 102, Mavericks 84 At Washington, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison gave Washington its first season sweep of Dallas since 1996-97.

     Butler had 25 points and nine rebounds, Jamison added 23 points and eight rebounds, and Washington overcame Josh Howard's 32 points to hand the Mavericks their biggest loss of the season.

     Dirk Nowitzki finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

     Trail Blazers 111, Hawks 109, OT

     At Atlanta, Travis Outlaw sank a long jumper with one second left in overtime to lift Portland over Atlanta.

     Guarded by Josh Smith, Outlaw held the ball outside the 3-point line until under 5 seconds remained. Then Outlaw took a couple of dribbles inside the circle before pulling up and making the jumper. He led Portland with 23 points

     Joe Johnson, who scored 37 points, missed a last-second shot for Atlanta, which lost its sixth straight to Portland at home.

     Celtics 109, Knicks 93

     At New York, Kevin Garnett had 20 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, and Boston routed New York.

     Celtics leading scorer Paul Pierce was ejected with New York's Quentin Richardson in the third quarter when both picked up two technical fouls for jawing at each other.

     Zach Randolph had 24 points and 15 rebounds for the Knicks, who reached the halfway point of its miserable season at 13-28.

     Spurs 95, Bobcats 86

     At Charlotte, North Carolina, Tim Duncan had 19 points and 10 rebounds and San Antonio ended its offensive doldrums.

     With five players in double figures, the Spurs snapped a two-game losing streak and ended a three-game stretch where they failed to reach 90 points. Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker added 16 points each.

     Emeka Okafor had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Gerald Wallace added 15 points for Charlotte, 0-4 all-time against the Spurs at home.

     Pacers 110, 76ers 103

     At Philadelphia, Kareem Rush scored a season-high 25 points and Mike Dunleavy added 24 to help Indiana beat Philadelphia.

     Andre Iguodala scored 23 points and Andre Miller 21 for the Sixers, who flopped at the free throw line, making just 21 of 34 of free throws.

     Jazz 109, Clippers 93 At Los Angeles, Deron Williams had 18 points and 13 assists, and six of his teammates also scored in double figures as Utah beat Los Angeles.

     Corey Maggette scored 23 points for Los Angeles and Chris Kaman added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Clippers haven't won consecutive games since starting the season 4-0. They are 8-25 since then.

     Timberwolves 109, Warriors 108

     At Oakland, California, Ryan Gomes scored a career-high 35 points to go with 11 rebounds to help Minnesota snap a 16-game road losing streak. The Timberwolves won just their second road game of the season and first since Nov. 26.

     Golden State began a stretch of 13 home games in 16 contests with a disappointing loss to the NBA's worst team. Monta Ellis led the way with 28 points.
