orty one beauties from various provinces vye for this year's Miss Philippines-Earth to represent the country in the Miss Earth Pageant, a beauty pageant that promotes action to save Mother Earth from environmental disaster. The contestants posed with placards reading, "Stop Emission! Shutdown Engine for a Minute." A media presentation to kick off the pageant was held poolside Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at a hotel at the financial district of Makati city, east of Manila.
