Stars of John Woo's Red Cliff

ohn Woo's epic 5-hour thriller Red Cliff stars Hong Kong actor Tony Leung, Japanese-Taiwanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro and Taiwanese actress Lin Chi-Ling. The first part is set for July 10 release in Asia, with Part II to follow in January 2009. A single 2 1/2-hour version will be released in the U.S. in January.

The $80 million project, the most expensive of its kind outside Hollywood, has already recouped its investment solely on Asia distribution rights, according to producer Terence Chang.

Red Cliff is the first movie directed by Woo in Asia since he left Hong Kong for Hollywood two decades ago to make thrillers like Face/Off and Mission: Impossible II.
