WHAT YOU SAY
New York
"I realized that whole west coast of United States are Earthquake prone including San Francisco, California. If I was Korean American I would rather live in New York or New England. New York, Boston, New Jersey have four things that Koreans love Money, Weather, Education, Family oriented enivironment. If you spend money like Californians you will be on debt. If you spend wisely like New Yorker you can have Money surplus. By wise Korean American from East coast."
"There are other races sharing the same pain and burden as Asians living in the US"
"It is just like the busy cities in Korea. And also there are a lot of Asians who live there and a lot of Asian hang-outs"
"diverse as you can get."
"New York is second highest Korean American population after L.A. New York seems more real its a city in which people will say they like you or they hate you. They won't brown nose you or stab you in the back!!!!! For Korean-Americans I strongly beleive New York (Big Apple) is a best American city!!!! The cultural diversity no city in United States match this."
"because i live here! it offers lots more opportunities and very racially diverse, you get a taste of all the different cultures. plus we have a hugh chinatown in manhattan and several smaller chinatowns in the suburbs."
"long immigrant history, strength in numbers (sometimes it seems like whites are the minority!), great food & culture, excellent schools, more career opportunities & cool people, come visit "the Big Apple" & see for yourself!"
"NY is diversity and fashion."
"I've experienced the least amount of stereotyping in New York. I felt very pigeonholed in California, like I was not being seen at all as an individual."
"Culturally, it offers more than most cities. It is diverse and has a high population of asians. There are tons of jobs and a variety of restaurants for all asian groups."
Seattle
"GARY LOCKE. Period. jason ford!! i love you! K.B"
"hello?!! governor gary locke!!
he's awesome!!"
"It has the best job market for the top professionals."
"An extremely diverse community. I grew up with people of all types of ethnic backgrounds. Not to mention, the Asian art museum, governer Gary Locke, and the large diversity of cultural backgrounds represented in media figures, such as news anchors, etceteras."
"Governor Gary Locke!"
"It's already a very diverse community that accepts any culture, essentially. Asians aren't just a group separate from other groups. There are always cultural awareness activities open to everyone. And the Governor is Chinese!"
"strong local economy, varied oppotunities esp. in pacific-int'l trade & plenty of college educated peers."
"Good community"
Houston
"Asian community has grown fast during the past few decades. They've had reprentation on the City Council for years and have good relations with other ethnic groups."
"Houston is the most racially Tolerant City in the US. It has not had the racial violence of LA or Chicago. Also, the races are used to working with eachother to accomplish things and do not segregate themselves to the extent that they do in New York or in LA."
"Great city. A lot of mobility. A modern city."
"Best clubs, restaurants, and girls."
Brookline/Boston
"diversity, young, vibrant atmosphere and very yuppy."
"Do I really have to explain why Boston is better than so many other places up there?"
[It couldn't hurt. --Ed.]
"Cause we allz be fullz of AZN PRYDE!!! Da Cheno's are blastin on dis section of da U.S."
Vancouver
"Asians are the majority here, business is flourishing and it is culture friendly."
"vancouver is voted no.1 city in Canada to live .
Also rated no.1 as the cleanest city in North America.
Very multicultural and known as Hongcouver."
"cheap and great food, asian influence everywhere, including social and political clout."
"Best culture and people. Food, women, men etc."
San Diego
"Great opportunity"
"the best weather around!!"
"a great mix of people, all from various backgrounds."
"There are a variety of people, Asian and non-Asian. Growing up in San Diego exposes a person to so many different cultures. Everyone is very accepting of other people here."
"Weather is Nice, Warm but yet cooler than Asia. People here for the most part are nice to the Asians as they have better values, better culture, nice to people, and invest back into USA by starting shop's, coffee shops, resturants etc... Most San Diegan's I know think they are cute and fun to be with."
Toronto
"Mix of people from different parts of the world come live here. Most chineses here are from Hong Kong."
"diversity of asians with many asain areas. BEAUTIFUL WOMAN. My only wish is that more japanese would migrate too and not only to LA & Vancouver. Also the food second only to SF."
"lots of asians, lots of korean towns, lots of chinese malls plazas totally asian."
"Torontonians are the nicest and most accepting people."
Atlanta, GA
"Great job opportunities in an ever growing city- good weather"
Ft Pierce, FL
"because it is a good city to live in without teasing from other asians"
Cleveland, OH
"Because it's not overcrowded with Asians....we are intelligent Asians working with the whites and showing that we are awesome people!!!!"
Tampa
"Even though there is not as high count of asians here, I feel welcome and it is a lovely area."
Washington DC
"Diverse culture, lots of opportunity"
Denver
"Cuz we don't have to put up with the superficiality of the West Coast or the snobbishness of the East Coast. We can just chill, catch a few runs on our magnificent slopes and not freak out about overpolluted air. Additionally, the higher altitude provides us up here with a higher alcohol tolerance than other Asians on the average. One bad hting is how much more sushi costs."
Atchison County, KS
"You state that only 105 Asians live in Atchison County, Kansas. I
actually visited Atchison, Kansas in 1997 and did not feel
uncomfortable. I recall seeing a few Asians when I was there. I
believe it's proximity to Kansas City, Fort Leavenworth (an Army post),
some industry, and the presence of Benedictine College may attract a
number of Asians. I have also visited some other areas of the US that
have greater number of Asians, and have gotten stared at."
San Antonio
"Warm weather, hot & spicy foods, THE Riverwalk!"
Scotland, UK
"Aberdeen SCOTLAND IS THE B E S T A hello to the Scot-Asians who visited here!!"
"I am of japanese ancestry, and I currently reside in Edinburgh. The Scottish are friendly, and open-minded. WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!"
"I know it's not in the U.S, but you can't beat Scotland! THe people hear are awesome and accepting!!"
Markham, ONT
"The Silicon Valley of the North, aka LIttle Hong Kong. The Town of Markham is predominately chinese. Also home to the biggest indoor Chinese Mall (Pacific Mall) in North America. The Town has lots of chinese shopping centers, supermarkets, restaurants etc. Everything you can
find in Hong Kong, you will find here in Markham. However, housing is very expensive and it seems like everyone drives expensive imported cars with cell phones in their back pockets."
Arcadia, CA
"It's everything Monterey Park and the rest of the San Gabriel Valley are except it has none of the negatives. There's a high percentage of successful Asian professionals living there and working at nearby JPL or CalTech, the school system is increasingly dominated by Asian students in classes, sports, groups, and government, there have been Asians on city council, there are finally Asian teachers, and there's great food.

There are Chinese from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China, there are Koreans, there are Japanese, there are Filipinos, there are Vietnamese, there are Thai, there are Cambodians, there are Indians -- basically, there's every kind of Asian in Arcadia. And, there's no crime, and if you want to go out to L.A. for a more lively night, the freeways are a hop, skip, and a throw away."
Ottawa, Canada
"Everyone accepts everyone here. No racial discrimination."
Irvine, CA
"Lots of acceptance and tolerance here, especially at Irvine's institutions of learning: UCI, the great high schools, etc. Plus, there's the shopping, food, culture outlets that are so convenient and make you feel like you belong. last thing is that Irvine's so close to many other diverse communities like Santa Ana and San Gabriel."
San Jose
"Affordable housing in some area's of the city, many high tech jobs, if you have the skills."
Oakland
"it is diverse and real."
Quincy, MA
"It's 20% Asian by population :)"
Alhambra, CA
"It is within driving distance to downtown LA, still affordable to live in with cheap eats, a good place to bring up a family with decent schools, and not an overgrown city with no community events/too much of a transient population."
Saratoga, CA
"sadfasdfas"
Santa Barbara
"Get away from that hell-hole/wasteland known as Los Angeles. Travel 2 hours north, and you're in paradise!"
Monterey
"The quality of life for EVERYONE is wonderful and continously growing."
Cerritos, CA
"Its where all the fyne asians are from...and plus...a lot of asian singers come from around here...and one good reason why Cerritos is way better than LA even if its only 40-50 minutes from here...Asians have the all the control in Cerritos and Asians are like the first class people just like the white people in Maryland and stuff is..."
"Heterogenous mix of Asians and other people of color. Good elementary schools. Best High School in California. Convenient shopping for ethnic foods. Good ethnic restaurants."
"Along with Long Beach, CA, Cerritos promotes high Asian interests like: cars, fashion, food and basically-asian...from all background. We also get a lot of respect down here by many others. Our only arch-enemies are our own...."
Dallas, TX
"High concentration of professional asian entreprenuers and corporate professionals."
Kingsland, TX
"come so maybe i wont be the only one anymore."

"Phoenix, Arizona! Thank god we're out of here in 4 months. Talk about white trash. I've never seen so many trailer parks and pregnant teens. People actually drive around with "White Power" bumper stickers, Confederate flags, and other racist symbols dangling everywhere. The people here are as flat and dull as the land."
