Gary Locke is the FIRST Asian governor and prominent political leader here in Seattle. High Technology and the Best Education for Asian kids. Excellent place to raise a family for Asians. Seattle is Asian-Friendly place.

The worst city for Asians has got to be Dallas. There are rednecks everywhere you go. There's nothing to do here in Dallas. The city only promotes "Redneck" culture and Latinos.

Wow, I can't believe some of the things I have read here. Some of the remarks are so overtly racist! Why do so many Asians seem so proccupied (in a negative way) with White people? Most of us have chosen to live in the US. And if we are here because of our parents, would we really rather move back to a Third World country??? I don't think so! So, to all my fellow Asians out there. . .quit bitching and be glad you are in the US!

     Seattle, WA is the best place for Asian Pacific Islanders. The governor is API (Gary Locke). The baseball stars are API (Kaz Sasaki and Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners). The football star is API (Marques Tuiasosopo of the Rose Bowl champs, the Washington Huskies). The city has a 15% API population and is heavily dependent on international trade with Asia (actually the entire state is heavily dependent on Asian trade). And, of course, the high-tech economy has lots of APIs in the game.
     Of course, the worst place has to be anywhere in the South or the Midwest. Can you say "redneck."
     Chicago? A total joke! Atlanta? I don't think so! St. Louis? Sux big time!

wow, alot of hostility in response to a simple question.
i recently visited vancouver, bc and thought it was a great place. i have an adopted chinese daughter who is 6. her comment to the high asian population was "i like it". well, who doesn't prefer that the majority of our home town be our own race. it's just common sense that birds of a feather flock together. if this isn't an important issue for you then you venture out. i've always been on watchful side regarding any prejudice against my daughter and have yet to encounter any here in florida. on the whole i have found that asians are usually regarded as intelligent and hard working people !!

I was somewhat surprised that the Washington DC area was not amoung the top 15 Asian population center. Although the DC area itself may only have a small asian population, if you consider the greater Washington metroplitan area it would include a very large asia population area. The problem may be that the greater Washington area includes 2 states namely Virginia and Maryland. In Annendale which is in Northern Virginia there is a very large Korean popluation center. Alexandria and Arlington have apparently large Thai populations. Northern Virginia has many Vietnamese people as well. There are also many Koreans spread through the northern Maryland suburbs of Washington. The Chinese who left the DC area some time ago have a very large community in Rockville Md, a suburb of Washington.
I have to think that when all these areas are combined they would consitute a top 15 area population center. Combining these areas is reasonable because they are all Washington suburban areas.

Indians are cool, man. What is everyone's problem? I think they are Asian. Maybe not because of their race or facial features, but certainly because of their culture. I dig Indian food, and the girls too. The guys are nice people too. All in all, I think they are a great bunch of people. Cept one thing -- I dont dig the caste system nor the arranged marriage thing. What crap!

I agree with the person who says Asians shouldn't bitch about which place doesn't have many Asians, etc. etc. BUT, I strongly disagree with that person's strict assimilationist theories. If I want to assimilate with the majority, it will be on MY terms. I'm not gonna laugh off a Asian ethnic joke just because I want to blend in with white folks and not cause trouble. I value my dignity and identity far more than trying to appease white people.
This person sounds pretty white-washed if you ask me. It's like he/she is saying, "Look everyone -- I live around whites, eat/talk/act white, and look how great my life is now! You should all come and join me!" I got news for you mister. I will only live/chill/play/eat with white people if they give me the respect that I'm very willing to give them. And so far in my life, the reception I've gotten from white people has at best been superficial. I'm not a bitter person, just someone who would rather live a harder but dignified life than self myself short. (FYI, I'm doing fucking AWESOME without any white person's help or presence. I pull in a hefty salary every year working as a stock broker.)

I have a question for the "Make Every Indian Proud" guy. Um..this is a forum for saying the best Asian cities in America. What does Indians being rich have anything to do with it? And...Indians being the richest ethnic group..eh...no...Sorry.

congratulations. indians do make great contributions to the usa in general, but do not be blinded by what indian elites have achieved and turn away from the less fortunate indians.

there are still no high ranking government officials of Indian ancestry in usa.
average GDP of indian is somewhere like $700 per year compared to $25,000 in USA and $3000 in China.
Over 80% of indians in India are living in poverty.
Despite with over billion people in the country, india does not rank in the top 10 of the largest economy of the world. China ranks number seven.

before we can boast of our achievements, we must clean up the rest of our mess back home.

     I live in Las Vegas now for bout half a year i fuckin hate it, it sux dick as an asian city. not many asian residents here, and i feel like a arab livin in da desert
     I lived in Houston for 4 years, theres a lot of viets there..they had two chinatowns and a korean town, and a little saigon...so there were a lot of asians, you gotta live in da right place Southwest Alief!!!! it was fun...but there was too much drama if u want to be in da "asian" "society " and go out an do "asian" things u better hab back wit u cuz it was crzy when i was there
     L.A nice! born there and lived there till i was 16. i think dat since there were so many asians there u werent so conscious of ur race especially since i lived near olympic blvd and im korean. and the stereotypical "asians" were there too but it wasnt as crazy as HTOWN was for me so i wasn't always watchin my back when i went out.

It's like you people think everyone is out to get you. "There are no Asians here, no Asians there...wah wah wah!" Why don't you do something daring, like move to a place where there ARE NO ASIANS? Don't use your racial differences to further segregate your race. Assimilate. What makes you think that white people or black people or hispanic people don't want to make friends with you? More stereotypes? The best city for Asian Americans to live and work in is a city where we can forget our racial differences and all our emotional baggage.

Other than BC and Alberta, everywhere else in Canada sucks especially Toronto. Taxes are too high, too much socialism and a stiffling government really hold down entreuprenerialship and business. You can see that Asians in America benefit from a free market economy but this type of Canadian socialism only benefits those elites like those in government. Plus you can see all the bastards of liberal socialism right in Toronto! At least Alberta and BC got it right in the last election with the Canadian Alliance, the only capitalist political party in this country.

What is the best city for Asian American ? Well, depend u r a poor ass asian, middle class asian or rich asian. If u r a poor asian, go to any city there is lot of crime. Start your business there. Glendora, CA is the BEST choice for Asians. It is a beautiful city, with affordable large homes and mansions. The schools are excellent, and the the Asian population is rising. It has great restaurants, and is just north of Walnut, a highly Asian populated city. There is plenty of open room for Asians to have new business opportunities. It is a must see for ALL ASIANS. The WORST city for Asians is Arcadia, CA. The CITY COUNCIL is almost all WHITE, the schools are over-populated, and housing is over-priced. The WHITE people have many limitations on housing and signs, and rule majority of the city.

Just a friendly warning to Asians ! Avoid Ohio, too many uncultured people from Kentucky, West Virginia are here and the really discriminate all minority. I am trying to move to the West or East coast soon.

Any city in Florida. Most people here think all Asians are "off-the-boat" and/or work in restaurants and laundry places. The hispanic community in South Florida contain some of the most ignorant people I have ever encountered.

Im from richmond BC where theres a huge asian population ESPECIALLY chinese and filipino and we all get along, that's what's great about canada. dont listen to any polititian f*** talkin about an "asian invasion" i say the more the merrier. im good friends with NUMEROUS races of ppl and that's what's great about Vancouver. but dont EVER say you "OWN" it, cause THAT bugs that hecklez outta me. Best city for Asian Americans is Hawaii!!! Seattle??? Seattle is too cold. Why do you guys keep voting for Seattle when cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles have more Asian Americans and more recreation?? You people who voted for Seattle are a bunch of conservative, boring people.
I voted for Hawaii because it has 6% Chinese, 22% Japanese, 15% Filipino, and 2% Korean. Add that all together and that's 45% Asian Americans meaning we are the majority in Hawaii (16% Hawiian and 37% white). And plus Hawaii is paradise and there's no homeless people bothering our communities (a.k.a. Los Angeles).

Best city has to be any city in california. I am originally from cali but moved to Minnesota. Why? hell, beats me, I wanted to stay.
Worst city or place has to be the rural midwest. Some of the towns have no black, hispanic or Asian residents. Most of the whites here have never seen an Asian person except on T.V.

Personally, like many people have already said, my vote is for Seattle as the best city to be a young Asian. It beats SF or LA because you aren't pigoenholed by your race. Numbers alone mean nothing. It's the local attitude that matters. And I must say that a state that can elect an Asian-American governor where Asians account for only 7% of the electorate certainly can't be one that "pirgoenholes" Asians as "different." (At least not in a bad way.)
Also, the bigger cities in the South are quite good for younger Asians. They're not quite Seattle, but they are of the same type of "new" cities, which don't have the long history of ethnic balkanization that cities like SF or LA have. I'm thinking of Atlanta in particular. Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham aren't bad either.
