WHAT YOU SAY

SF AM,

Really. How so?

I will be more than happy to engage you on the topic of "MBA are useless" as A/HL Grad proclaims.

So why do think an MBA is useless.

A/HL Grad,

Illogical.

Let's use some critical thinking that you keep talking about.

If the set of elements promoted at Mckinsey contains MBA's (P), then MBA are are useful (M).

This simple logical statement is true and refutes your original claim that MBA are useful. Which was my point all along.

Now let's use simple logic in symbolic form

If P, then M is true

so

If P, then ~M is not true

This is quite elementary for anyone who familar with logic.

So which assumption is wrong P or M?

Like I keep saying attacking me personally is useless, I don't have an MBA or JD or any graduate degree. From my point of view all graduate degree do not guarantee job security.

Stick to the points, and you will slowly come to realize that you are being outwitted on all fronts old white man.

In this brave new world, I believe I'm your elder on these matters.

So what critical analysis can you offer to prove a MBA is useless? You've been trying for 2 months and you still fall back on personal attacks. Just admit it you made a dumb statement you cannot justify.

AC Dropout, I don't think A/HL has lost the debate. I think you have. But I agree, it is time to move on to another topic.

AC Dropout:

Uh...you are not thinking again. You assume that an MBA is crucial to promotion at McKinsey (bad assumption). I, instead, point out that MBA programs are but one of the many places that McKinsey recruits at, and the fact that McKinsey recruits only at top MBA programs is indicative of their prestige. They also recruit JD's, MD's, PhD's, and industry experts from top notch schools and companies. But the fact that they recruit beyond MBAs runs counter to your assertion that a MBA is essential at McKinsey.

You really need to think a problem through clearly before you state a position. Making the bold assertion that someone already lost the debate, when you yourself made a bad assumption, only makes you look foolish.

I'm sure that your elders told you to think before you speak at some point in your life.

A/HL Law,

The set of Corporate America contains the element of Mckinsey. If the properties of MBA is necessary for a promotion in Mckinsey is true, the statement a MBA is necessary for a promotion in Corporate America must also hold true. QED.

This is the nature of a simple logical statement and critical analysis.
You've already lost this debate, move on to the next topic.

AC Clueless:

"You will become to realize why people like you are driving the plane; and people like me are sitting in the back thinking about other things."

Flight attendant, right? You are thinking about the next meal service that you have to make.

"I also know from experience that when I make a phone call goods will arrive from China."

Calling your poor uncle to send you some herbs doesn't count. Nor does calling a service for a "bride". That's about the extent of your goods from China.

"Hence, the MBA is necessary in Corporate America (i.e. McKinsey is part of Corporate America)."

Actually, if you knew anything, you'd realize that MBA's are part of the recruiting process. The rest is filled by JD/MD/PhD. By your faulty logic, then anywhere that McKinsey recruits is necessary to climb the corporate ladder, no?

How dumb are you?
