Using Friends to Meet Women
find it funny that the Asian males who blame the media for the lack of the "Asian Tom Cruises" curse the same media when the next "Bruce Lee" or Asian superstar comes along and steal the thunder from them. All of the sudden, the same Asian males have the same insecurity as before; they feel they cannot live up to the image projected by these "Asian hunks", the image that everybody (male and female, Asian and Caucasian) now seems to look up to! I would love to see more of my fellow Asian brothers and sisters in the media, if only to create a more realistic view of the real world (as if the media is supposed to be real anyway) ... and to create more jobs for Asians. :) The media does not exist to make one's dating and social life easier. Whoever said that "a woman who bases her opinions of an entire race of men just on what she sees in the media or lack thereof is not the type of woman you want anyway, since she cannot form her own independent opinion" has hit it on the nail.
I met my ex-girlfriend through a mutual female friend. (I say "ex" because of fate and sad circumstances, we could not be together). Don't underestimate the power of family and friends. Family and friends help out a lot. Who would vouch for your character better than the people who know you? Friends do a better job of selling you than you could ever do on your own, especially if you're shy. Friends help minimize the risk of rejection and ease the tension of the first meeting (the worse that could happen is that you will have another friend). Friends say thing like : "Yeah, this guy is cool, he likes this and that, he does such and such for me." My friends are my own best media; my friends are my producers, directors, writers, cast recruiters, supporting cast, publicists, public relations and critics. All I have to do is to play myself! :) Together we make great movies and one of them is bound to be a hit! THE END. (Maybe there will be sequels). :)
