WF Advice to AM on Dealing with Haters
gave my Chinese American husband some advice to help him deal with haters. I want to share that same advice to all Asian males here because I noticed the haters on this website. When haters target you, you have control of two things, your attitude and your perspective. Attitude is how you respond to haters while perspective is how you see haters.
Having a great attitude is your choice, which can make a big difference in the quality of your life. You can respond to haters with more hate, or you can pity them. You see, haters are not born haters, but become haters because of negativity in their own lives. What sadness in the hater's life compels them to hate others they do not even know? What pain drives haters to form conclusions about people not from personal experience but from negative stereotypes? What emptiness must haters feel to only feel good when putting others down? With the right attitude, you should feel sorry for these haters.
Having the right perspectives is also your choice, which will help you deal with haters. These haters would not bother to attack Asian males if you were insignificant and not a threat to them. If the haters were so sure the negative stereotypes about Asian males are true, why not allow all women to form their own conclusions from personal experience? What are they afraid of? That women may find out the negative stereotypes are false. If the haters were so sure relationships with Asian males would not work, why bother spreading biased hearsay? If something is already doomed to fail, there is no need to sabotage it. If you can see the perspective I have just shared with you, you will find some solace the next time you are attacked. Choose your attitude and perspective wisely!
