ASIAN AMERICAN ISSUES
IS THE AA GENDER DIVIDE REAL?
(Updated
Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025, 06:38:56 AM)
sian American women are abandoning AA men by the millions. Young AA women seek out any race of men but their own. Women like Amy Tan write books and make movies that dump on AA men and glorify Asian women in relationships with white men.

That's the perception of many AA men.

On what do they blame this state of affairs? Brainwashing by media that play up white men while cutting Asian men off at the knees. Desire for payback by AA women who feel slighted by their families and Asian society. Large numbers of non-Asian men with blind fetishes for Asian women. Some even acknowledge that Asian men are often too fixed in their ideas of how a woman should look and behave, causing many AF to feel devalued.

Other Asian Americans see AF outmarriage rates as merely a natural state of affairs for a 4% minority population that includes many recent immigrants. The outmarriage gender gap will narrow as growing Asian population centers provide ready access to bigger pools of singles. Besides outmarriage is't the same as rejecting one's racial identity, they argue. Many AF who outmarry retain strong identification with their Asian identity.

Is there really an Asian American gender divide? Is so, what's behind it? If not, what's behind the perception?

WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
AC dropout:
You write that my last post “does nothing to suggest other than that [I] feel that…the pop media [don’t have] any contribution to AF views of AM.” Leaving aside your criticism of my verbosity, my friend, if that is what you infer after all that you had just read, then that is what you infer. I can’t make the matter any more plain than I have. I wish you well.
You also make the mistake Misc did about the distribution of AAs in counties where they are a minority; again, right after you read my explanation to Misc. AC, you won’t find Cook County’s AA population spread evenly throughout Cook County’s neighborhoods. AAs cluster. You will not find one and a half Asian kids in each Cook County classroom.
AC, my friend, you make this seem like playing Jeopardy. In real life, though, the question shouldn’t follow the answer.
Regards, my friend.

I'm sick of Roger:
Is anyone else sick of this dude??? You write way too much and you're not even an Asian American. Get lost will you?
People please stop responding to this idiot. It only makes him feel more like a king.
I'm interested to hear what other AA have to say.

Roger,
Are you trying to justify your current relationship with an AF?
Your latest post does nothing to suggest other then that you feel that neither the pop media nor population density has any contribution to AF views of AM.
First off you style of writing is as though you are a native German speaker writing in English. Verbosity does not equal clarity.
Anyway growing up in NYC I can attest to the fact, that even growing up 5 miles apart can have a great influence on how AF view AM. You are not taking into consideration that when people first form their first opinion on mating partners, it is before puberty even starts (hence no driver's license).
I'm not familiar with Cook County in Chicago. I use to spend about 4 weeks out of the year in St. Charles for Corporate training and don't really have a high opinion of Chicago in general.
But let assume you 5% population is correct. You can assume those over the age of 18 have already have a pshycological template for a mating partner already.
You are now down to < 5%/2 of their population who are AF that can be influence by pop media and interatction with other AM. Now we can basically agree TV will not influence this hypothetical < 18 year old AF in Cook County, because there aren't really that many AM on TV. So now this AF only other interaction that will determine who she find attrative in the future is school. If the average class is 30 people and you assume age distribution follow the race distribution. You will have about 1.5 asian kid in each class. To make it simple you will either have classes with 1 or 2 asians. So this is the population this hypothetical AF will form her mating template for a future mate. If she is luck there will be 1 AM in her class she can throw into her template.
You assumption that a AF growing up in burbs will have access to interact with all those other asians in Chicago. That is not the cases. Going to the asian supermarket every week with your parents and seeing other asian kids doesn't really qualify as interactions.
From personal experience I grew up in Flushing, Queens which is like 40% asian, a friend of mine grew up in Bayside, Queens which is like 10% asian. She attributed her like to WM due to fact she only saw WM when she was growing up. We both grew up in the City of New York and only 5 miles apart back in the 80's.
So of course population density matters.
