ASIAN AMERICAN ISSUES
IS THE AA GENDER DIVIDE REAL?
(Updated
Wednesday, Jan 22, 2025, 06:38:56 AM)
sian American women are abandoning AA men by the millions. Young AA women seek out any race of men but their own. Women like Amy Tan write books and make movies that dump on AA men and glorify Asian women in relationships with white men.

That's the perception of many AA men.

On what do they blame this state of affairs? Brainwashing by media that play up white men while cutting Asian men off at the knees. Desire for payback by AA women who feel slighted by their families and Asian society. Large numbers of non-Asian men with blind fetishes for Asian women. Some even acknowledge that Asian men are often too fixed in their ideas of how a woman should look and behave, causing many AF to feel devalued.

Other Asian Americans see AF outmarriage rates as merely a natural state of affairs for a 4% minority population that includes many recent immigrants. The outmarriage gender gap will narrow as growing Asian population centers provide ready access to bigger pools of singles. Besides outmarriage is't the same as rejecting one's racial identity, they argue. Many AF who outmarry retain strong identification with their Asian identity.

Is there really an Asian American gender divide? Is so, what's behind it? If not, what's behind the perception?

WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
i nominate "Chinese Exclusion Act" for the 'master of contradictions' award. b/c i so strongly believe he deserves this title, im taking precious time out of my day to prove it. perhaps after this...he'll get a hint.
Contradiction 1: interracial dating
feb 28 -- "Well everyone here shouldn't be suprised when in the media EVERY asian girl is paired up with a white guy while asian guy's are romantically involved with...no one!"
mar. 4 -- "Of course their will be a dating discrepency when u look at how this works out.....AF/WM = accepted..to the point where it ain't even considered interracial....AM/WF = not only not accepted, but they make it seem like it don't exist."
mar. 5 -- "ASIAN MALES AREN'T MAD THAT WHITE GUY'S ARE DATING ASIAN GIRLS."
Contradiction 2: white boys
mar. 4 -- "I'm sure I know what all the whiteboys taking japanese and chinese classes are thinking....
SO, to all the white boy's in this site..why are you here? Wait...I probably know the reason for that."
mar. 5 -- "If the white guy kicks with other asian guy's, then he's cool with me."
Contradiction 3: AF bashing
mar. 5 -- "Yeah, white guy's are attracted to you because your not "Loose" many think your "TIGHT"
mar. 7 -- "You turn everything I've said into something where it's like i'm bashing asian women when I'm not doing that at all."
mar. 7 -- "There be alotta asian hoe's out there that make themselves sexually available to whoeva."
Chinese Exclusion Act asked, "Well I gotta ask, where are all the good asian women? Cause there seem to be less and less of them."
the good asian women are with the men who put their BRAINS and HEARTS in use. if you STILL are unable to comprehend such simple notion...try pyschotherapy.
AC Dropout:
"One will quickly realise the properties of the smallest unit do not translate to the behavior of the larger unit. ...Hence, an individual white person can be the nicest person in the world, but the society he created is something altogether a different story." ... "Individual need to identify with a societial norms, societial norms doesn't really care about the individual." ..."The psycological template of searching for a mate starts before puberty....Hence, mass media also influences these mating templates."
question 1: are human beings 'the smallest unit' of a society?
question 2: can we rely on scientific theories to give explanations to social relationships?
question 3: where and how did "societial norms" derived, if not by human beings?
question 4: if our mating decisions are dependent on these innate 'templates', why are humans so different from another?
question 5: if the mass media possess such enormous power on our 'mating templates'....how do you explain those of us who were not controlled by the media....were we the defects?
TRY THIS THEORY....when a hypothesis generates visibly ridiculous questions, its time to trash the idea..and start over from scratch.

Lets get one thing straight, this is my personal take on this whole gender divide problem.
No one has it worse than AM that are born here.
We not only have to fight over WMs for AFs, but also AM who are born overseas (yeah FOBS)
Unless your from overseas, I think AMs bear the stigma of being nerds, quiet, shy, weak, and no nothing of true relationships . In MY OPINION, many AMs(ABCs like me) can do everything a normal bf (whether white, black, hispanic, etc) can provide. All I ask of AFs is to at least give us a friggin chance. I think AFs would be surprised at what AMs are capable of, all they have to do is give us some time and I think AFs will be blown away. NO JOKE, REALLY.
Balls in your court AFs.

AC Dropout
Doesn't wash. Plenty of 80s shows, MTV, Dynasty, Dallas, Moonlighting, The A-Team, Knots Landing, Cheers, Magnum P.I., Miami Vice, Growing Pains, Night Court, Matlock, Different World, L.A. Law, Hunter, Roseanne. Except for MTV, none were on cable. If you only had a couple of channels, they wouldn't be showing reruns even after school. No one uses the seventies term boogie-down. see adoptee board. Unless he was late thirties/early forties. Admit it, you're much older. Nothing wrong with that. You're not here to pick up chicks anyway since you're a married father. See top annoyances. There's no age limit to these boards. The older, the more experienced, I suppose. If you insist on being younger, no one's buying it.
