AA MEN SEEK OUT NON-ASIAN WOMEN
(Updated )
sian women are only interested in non-Asian men and don't give Asian men the time of day. That's the reason cited by many AA men for dating and marrying non-Asians. A minority of AA men say they simply find non-Asian women more physically attractive or more appealing in terms of personality, values and interests. Whatever the reasons, the rates at which young Asian men are dating and marrying non-Asian women are quickly approaching the rates at which Asian women are outdating and outmarrying (about 38%). Some Asian women are complaining that they aren't getting a fair shake because Asian men have been brainwashed by media standards of desirability.
What are the real reasons for so many Asian men seeking out non-Asian women? How do Asian women really feel about this trend? Who benefits most from it? Will the trend continue? We want to hear your views.

Even if we took at face value the allegations contained in the complaint you cited, they wouldn’t refute my statement, the one that you quoted. There never was a requirement that one be an “Anglo-Saxon” or a Protestant to join the DAR, even though I’m sure most of the Patriots themselves were “Anglo-Saxon” Protestants.
I really have no interest in rehabilitating the DAR, but the case you cited involved one private school in rural Alabama, not far from Scottsboro. If the school actually did have a discriminatory enrollment policy, I’d attribute it to the school’s location as much as to any DAR connection. There have been Black DAR members for at least a couple of decades, and I doubt that the DAR has ever been any more discriminatory than American society in general. In any event, if this rural Alabama school did discriminate against Black kids, that doesn’t refute my statement, the statement you quoted. Membership in the DAR was never restricted to “Anglo-Saxons” or Protestants.
If you’ll scroll back, the reason I entered this thread was to ask Asian Dominatrix about her use of the term “WASP.” I see the term used a lot, almost never correctly. As I mentioned above, the people sneered at as “WASPs” almost never are. Asian Dominatrix admitted that her use of the term could include, say, Polish Roman Catholics, which seems odd to me, as odd as sneering “Papist Pollack” at an “Anglo-Saxon” Protestant.
AAM, what do you suppose the reaction of Chinese Americans might be if every December 7 they had to listen to people sneering their contempt at the Chinese – not that it is fair, either, to blame Japanese people or Japanese Americans who had nothing to do with the attack on Pearl Harbor? Do you think Chinese Americans might wonder why Chinese people were being blamed at all, much less singled out for blame?
Your ramble about Jefferson’s “pure White” descendants is similarly irrelevant, but I’d be interested to know how you determined that they’re all members of the DAR. I won’t ask you to cite your source. I’m sure you have none.
Your infinitely patient friend,
Roger

[That will conclude this discussion of DAR. Let's get back on track. --Ed.]
Asian Dominatrix,
thanks for your compliments upon my mother. Personally, I wouldn't know how difficult or easy it would have been to graduate from the U of C. She graduated with a M.S. in Applied Math and worked as a software engineer for many years before retiring a few years ago. I'd like to think she's a VERY smart woman (unlike me) eventhough she doesn't admit it. Speaking of which, would I be upset I got denied? probably NOT actually. The way I see it, I have really no problems with being denied admission to an institution if my academic standards were sub-par. If those standards were clearly defined and everyone (regardless of race) was subjected to them, I really don't see why ANYONE would be angry. Anyways, back to the subject. I actually didn't spend that much time (born to 7-8 years old) in the midwest. I do recall however, that there weren't many asians there, especially in St. Louis. Chicago was actually quite a bit better, especially on the north side. I wouldn't be surprised if there were many intellectual asians there at all considering the fact that Illinois has it's share of high-tech corporations (Motorola, Molex, Lucent Labs). In fact, I used to date an AF from the Chicago area. She graduated from Illinois - Urbana, Champ. and now works as an I-Banker in San Francisco. I guess that's why I'm a little surprised there aren't too many cute Asian Males (over age 18 hehehehee...) for ya there. Of course, I suppose it harder to meet people with all that snow on the ground (OK... Califonia Jab!). Quite frankly, what is the asian population like in Chicago?

Daniel Wayne and Roger:
I looked up the DAR site. It's actually got some handy info on aspects of American history which have slipped out of my mind since graduation from HS (hee hee). I guess maybe Lynne Cheney is right after all (we're all right once in a while): we need more emphasis on learning American history.
I am curious tho' about the advantages of DAR/SOAR/ etc. memberships. Not to be facetious, but are there any "perks" associated with it? Free parking for a year? Free catering for 4th of July picnics?
Daniel, you mention that you have hapa kids. Did you get any flack from your parents or relatives about "soiling" (as some might call it) your roots with foreign blood?
For AM's on this board:
I have a slightly different question now. Have any of you dated blue-collar/lower-class NON-Asians--and have you encountered bigotry on their part?

Reading some of the stories about fellow "WASPs" and their behaviors makes me feel downright disgusted. But then again, I always was someone to go against the grain. Typically when it's come down to issues between people whom I consider dear friends (a plethera of folks of all kinds of ancestry/religions/skin tones) and acquaintences (my fellow WASPs), I have always sided with those who had by backs--the non-WASPs.
Some would say that makes me a "race-traitor," but I sleep with a clear conscience and have a happy life. I personally wouldn't give a rats ass if all the intolerant, clench-jawed WASPs were bred out of existance via transethnic marriages or died of a genetic disease caused by too much in-breeding. As long as my wife, our children and I can live in peace.
Kind of ironic for a guy of Nordic/Anglo ancestry whose surname goes back to 11th century Wales, eh?

"But many millions of women are DAR-eligible, and there was never any requirement that one be either “Anglo-Saxon” or Protestant to join."
Dream on....See below.
Penny Doe vs DAR Alabama
19. Plaintiff Penny Doe is a child residing in the homeless shelter operated by Tennessee Valley Family Services, Inc. in Marshall County, Alabama. She is in the ninth grade. Her former school is more than two hours away from the shelter.
20. On September 10, 1998 -- over ten days after the first day of the school semester -- Karen McConnell, the director of the shelter where Penny resides, attempted to enroll her at Guntersville High School. Penny would have been eligible to attend the school had she enrolled within the first ten days of the semester. Later that day, the school enrollment committee refused to enroll Penny.
21. On September 11, 1998, Ms. McConnell called Defendant Thrower, the Superintendent of the Marshall County Board of Education, and informed him of Penny’s situation. Defendant Thrower told Ms. McConnell to enroll Penny in the DAR High School. Because of Defendant Thrower’s previous acquiescence in the DAR High School’s discriminatory policy, Ms. McConnell responded, "but Jackie, she’s black." Defendant Thrower then instructed Ms. McConnell to enroll Penny at Boaz High School.
Comments: Most blacks should be eligible for DAR, as they are technically descended from DARs. But, as Ms. McConnell responded, "but Jackie, she is black", which for most DARs in the south means something with a lower status than their household pet.
"I’ll bet there are lots of DAR-eligible “happas,” too, and maybe even some "happa" members."
May be eligible in the strict sense of the word, but would not be admitted. Here in Virginia, every year they have a reunion of those descended from Thomas Jefferson. If someone descended from Thomas Jefferson married a non-white person, they and their descendants would not be eligible to be buried in the family cemetery in Monticello. You have to be pure white, and all those descendants are DARs. So, no a hapa would not be eligible. That may be another concern of Kevin Yang's cousin's in-laws who do not regard the Chinese as equals. Their kids would no longer be DAR....they just lost their "pure white" blood lines. This may also be the reason why the cousin of Asian Dominatrix and her white boyfriend were broken up by the latter's family. You do loose privileges when your blood stream is no longer pure white.
