AA MEN SEEK OUT NON-ASIAN WOMEN

sian women are only interested in non-Asian men and don't give Asian men the time of day. That's the reason cited by many AA men for dating and marrying non-Asians. A minority of AA men say they simply find non-Asian women more physically attractive or more appealing in terms of personality, values and interests. Whatever the reasons, the rates at which young Asian men are dating and marrying non-Asian women are quickly approaching the rates at which Asian women are outdating and outmarrying (about 38%). Some Asian women are complaining that they aren't getting a fair shake because Asian men have been brainwashed by media standards of desirability.
     What are the real reasons for so many Asian men seeking out non-Asian women? How do Asian women really feel about this trend? Who benefits most from it? Will the trend continue? We want to hear your views.

there's not that many Asians in Evanston huh? Oh wells... I guess they all live in Libertyville then. Speaking of Asians in a program, come to think of it, though there were a TON of Asians in my EE/Math programs (almost all of them), I just thought of something, there were NO females! All the AF I grew accustomed to seeing were in other programs such as business or finance. Of course, going to USC and UCLA, where half the campus was Asian, meeting AF wasn't much of a problem. Of course, they all thought I was a nerd considering what I studied, but hey... got me a good job right?

About AM dating WF in CA, I'd have to say that Northern California seems a bit more open to IR relations of all kinds. Though the majority of Asian IR relations are still the TYPICAL AF/WM, there are probably more AM/WF couples in the SF bay area than anywhere else. I actually see it enough that the descrepancy between genders doesn't bother me as much anymore. Of course, that doesn't change the fact that I'd still want to be with an AF, but it seems that people here buy less into existing stereotypes about AM. I guess the Hi-Tech/Bio-Tech money here TALKS! The average AM here, is a BMW driving YUPI (with CONTACT LENSES OF COURSE), so I guess the existing stereotypes take a backseat to dollar signs. Rather materialistic if you ask me, but at least we're NOT looked on as laundry workers.

I lived UK for 4 yrs. Occasionally, I heard racial incidents happened in decrepit industrial towns up north. I am sure you heard of the racial riots in Bradford happened last yr. I would not say the Brits are more open about IR between WF & non-white men. US has more minority people than UK. If UK has the same number of minorities, the white men there would start feeling being threatened. Also, metropolitan cities and univeristy towns are more liberal towards IR relationships.

You're right, you did limit your statement to Polish converts, but I'm sure it would still seem odd to such a convert to be considered "Anglo-Saxon."

California has more AM/WF couples than elsewhere, but only because California has so many AAs, period. I lived for many years in SF and Orange County. Such couples are still pretty rare, especially compared to WM/AF couples.

Marriage stats are of limited usefulness in examining the prevalence of IR relationships, obviously because there is much more dating going on than marrying, regardless of the race or races of the individuals involved. (We'll all no doubt date more people than we will marry.) Also, sometimes the designation "Asian" in such stats will include, say, Indians. Accordingly, some stats that show an increase in "Asian" M/WF marriages may be misleading because they include Indian M/WF marriages.

i'm all for free speech, but certain steps might be taken to ban this roger guy if he just doesn't keep his yappers shut about irrelevant topics to AM issues.

Just a quick aside: I didn't say that WASPs included Polish Roman Catholics, but only that they could be included at large if they were upper middle class and converted.

There weren't a whole lotta Asians in Evanston, or at least northwest Evanston when I attended HS. When I moved to Chicago, it was just right before my going to Oxford; so in a sense I've never really gotten to experience Chicago fully Would you believe it, but there are more Asians in Oxford (the city and the university)--but alas, not in my program.

Just curious: are there far more AM's dating WF's in CA than in other parts of the nation? I'm wondering because when I was in England I noticed a greater proportion of WF's in a relationship with AM's. I would see at least one couple a day; in Chicago, I see this only once every few months. I think the British are more laid back about IR despite their stuffy image.
