Response to Campus Racist Incident
or every documented account of racial attacks (both verbal and physical)against Asians on college campuses, another 25 go unreported. I never heard of the Cornell U. incident until now but a very similar occurance happened to me and a few of my friends at Emory back in '95. There were four of us (2 females Indian/Veitnamese 2 males Paki/White) walking back from a pre-req. music class. When 4 frat boys drove by and one of them screamed: YEAH GET SOME YELLOW P***Y!!. To which I yelled: WHY DON'T YOU SUCK MY BIG BROWN D**K!! and simutaneously hurled my Coke can at thier car hitting the back. The car screached to a hault and the 4 young scholars got out. Instead of standing my ground, I met them half way in the middle of the street which I don't think they were expecting. There was basically a heated verbal exchange and threats of violence form both sides. My VF friend jumped in on my side telling them that she was going to report this to the Dean and that they screwed with the wrong people. Fortunately the four guys lacked the conviction to fight and a couple of cars had pulled up behind and started honking for them to move. They left with promises of Greek retaliation but it seemed unlikely. As we recollected the IF and the WG started saying that I was I was the one who escalted the situation and that I should have been more careful because there were girls involved. I was completely disgusted by thier behavior and told them I don't know which group sickend me more and walked off. The next day one of the four guys came up to me and tried to apologize for what happened and the day after that the driver side window of my car was smashed in. Ahhh College Memories....
