Facing Down a Jilted Racist Corean
don't like to generalize, and I am sure this example is not representative of the entire Korean group in general. I have a friend who is married to a Korean girl. Their romance did not come about easy. He is Chinese and born here in the States. It happened that his wife was the former ex-girlfriend of his best friend in high school, who also happened to be Korean. The Korean guy was abusive to his girlfriend both physically, verbally and psychologically. He did this even in the presence of his friends. My friend was one of them who saw it. It happened that this girl had no place to go and no place to breathe. My friend tried to console her at the park. One thing led to another and they just "clicked." Then, the Korean guy confronted my friend and asked him out to "handle this" and to see who would win the girl. Of course, my friend would do anything for her and he knew that brute would have harmed her if he didn't act out. He didn't back off and looked that guy in the eyes. My friend was no wimp and skilled in the martial arts and street instincts. The girl told that Korean that everything was over between her and him and that he should just let it go. Realizing this, he left. And, my friend has now been with this girl ever since. Yet, I see that Korean guy still yelling derogatory and hateful comments towards Chinese at our university's dormitory. Every Chinese he sees has a special given name. Why does he translate his own personal problems and insecurity and project towards all other Chinese people as a whole?

If my girlfriend dumped me for a black guy, would I start getting racist towards every single black I saw? Nope. I'd try to find what was wrong in the first place and move on. I learned my lesson and just consider it her lost. Today, I took care of that Korean "boy." He tried to pick on a Chinese guy not proportion to his size. So, I stepped in and did it in front of all the dorm mates. He tried to use that Tai Kwan Do stuff. It didn't work, as I used to wrestle for 3 years in high school. And, I have gotten bigger over the years. Some glass got broken. He left and threatened to kill me. I told the dorm leader that I plan to move out and filed a police report. How can I say we Asians can be united? Don't go crying to mama.
