BM's Affair with an AF Mandarin Teacher
s an offering to this topic I wanted to share my experience as an African-American male dating a Chinese woman. I met this woman while I was a student of hers. She was my Mandarin teacher, very beautiful, soft spoken and extremely intelligent. I noticed she seemed afraid of me as after the first class she asked if anyone could drive her home. I offered and soon we were driving to the address she gave me. She seemed nervous. I asked if everything was OK and she said I was taking her the wrong way. I told her no as I'm sure this is the correct way as I've lived in this city all my life. As we continued she was trembling so I told her that I would take her the way she wanted me to go. She pointed me in the opposite direction and I proceeded. A mile later she said she was lost and I assured her we were going the wrong way and if she would trust me for a few minutes I would have her home safely. She nodded. Ten blocks later she screamed "Their is my home!". I just smiled and she looked embarrassed. I told her it was OK as she should be careful with a stranger and I took no offense. Classes later were great and I managed to learn some Mandrain. One day after a few months she asked if we could go out for dinner to thank me for driving her home. I accepted and we went to dinner. Soon we were going to dinner every weekend. While not being long winded the thought I want to get across is that it never occurred to me this woman was interested in me nor was I interested in her other than as a teacher. Yet here we were with a standing dinner date each weekend having a great time. I learned so much with her as we traveled to Hong Kong and several cities in China. For eight months we spent all our available time and I am very grateful for the time we were able to spend together. There are some complexity in such a relationship both internal and external but I suspect if offered, it will be worth your time to explore it. If you want to correspond on this feel free.
