The Night a Ghost Called Me Into the Sea

hen I was a small little girl, my family took me to a seaside resort. The first night I was there, I slept alone in a tiny room adjacent to my parents. Dont' know why, but I woke up and saw a shadow outside my window. Now, being stupid and not knowing any better, I snuck outside to see who it was, and next thing I knew, there were screams and shouts and somebody was shaking me. It turned out, I was neck-deep in the water, and would have drowned had a night security man not seen me walk into the water. He said he waded in and dragged me out, but he said that the current was dragging me back in and it was very strong and he could barely hold on to me. And I was sleeping through all this, mind you. The water was freezing and he was yelling for help, and I slept through all this. I then told my parents that there was an older boy...he must have been around twelve or fourteen (I was only about six then). He had waited for me outside, and when he saw me, he smiled at me and told me that he had been waiting for me. He took me by the hand and took me towards the ocean and he said something like "I want to show you something, Kelly. I've been keeping it, especially for you and I want you to see it. Come with me."
I'm not exactly sure of the wording, but that's what I remember. Anyway, I told my parents that, and as it turned out, there was a boy who drowned there only a few years before. People had often seen him at dusk, standing at the edge of the water, waiting for something or somebody. Turned out, he was waiting for me! I never found out what the boy was going to show me. The night watchman pulled me out before I could see what all the fuss was about. The resort has since been demolished and a casino is in its place, but the memory of that night remains with me, and I'm still alive today only because I got lucky that there was a night watchman on duty who ran after a little girl in a white nightgown, walking slowly into the waves.

READER COMMENTS

be,

there have been many cases when a living person interacted with the spirits residing on the other side. there are many people who experienced life after death (snapped back into reality after presumed dead). what these people have experienced when they entered the spiritual realm is strikingly similar.

thru spiritual cultivation, you can also achieve a level where you can freely interact with spirits even though that is not the purpose of the training.

there's a level you reach in spiritual cultivation where you get to dissolve all the discriminating thoughts from your mind and get to experience what your true nature is. at that level, you experience a sensation where nature and you become one. one gets to learn that everything is interconnected and interdependent. there's no more 'I'. everything is one and one is everything.

too confusing? i wouldn't say it is full enlightenment. perhaps just a glimpse of it.

when you reach this level, interacting with ghost/spirit becomes a child's play.
be, how do you know if i'm making a speculations? what do you know about spirituality? have you ever engaged yourself in the spiritual training?

be, i don't believe in the existence of ghost or miracle. i KNOW the existence of ghost or miracle.

i have been involved with the spiritual cultivation for many years. there are many phenomenon i encountered while meditating, sleeping (in a dream), or simply engaging in normal daily activities. i still consider myself a beginner in this game since i'm not fully enlightened. what i wrote above is not even a fraction of what can be experienced in process of spiritual training. i just wrote down few words b/c it seems that you are completely ignorant about it.

no way to explain or prove them? there are plenty ways of doing it. these can only be experienced thru years of training.

Wow...I didn't expect to see this story posted, much less get responses from you all. Thanks for the input!

Be,
Sometimes, proof isn't needed for certain things. I've never been able to explain the power of Love, but I know that it exists. In the same token but on the other side of that coin, so does Evil, in all its splendor.

AC Dropout,
Didn't feel like true love to me at all. How many thirteen year old boys could be in love with a six-year-old girl? And to have true love, it must be reciprocrated. I didn't feel anything but a strange morbid fascination with him. And yes, I'm glad I made it back into the real world as well. I would make a pretty lousy ghost.

to T.K.
I kinda heard the same thing myself. Thank the heavens I'm still alive! I would hate to be a lonely old spirit, wandering around at dusk on some lonely beachfront forever. I don't think I have it in me to lure somebody else to their death just to save my soul. If that means I'll be stuck forever, then I guess that's my fate in life (and death) and that'll give me plenty of time to think about the meaning of my existence, maybe try out for membership in that exclusive Buddhahood club (after all, I'll have forever-and-a-day to learn how to be a pretty snazzy one, right?). And think about it, how much is your soul worth if you have to murder somebody to get into nirvana or heaven, or wherever souls go? They'll just yell at you and then send you right back down to re-learn how to be a decent human being, and you could have it much worse now because your crappy karma is following you around, making sure you get a miserable time of it all.

TK:
How does anyone know what truly happens to the spirit of the deceased and what goes on in the spiritual realms. Those are only speculations you're refering to.

Dont get me wrong, I do believe ghost exist...just as I believe miracles can happen. But there is no way to explain it, b/c there is no way to prove it.

I've heard stories similar to yours before. Whenever a person dies from an accident by drowning or car crashes or other forms of death that abruptly ends his/her life, I was told that the spirit of the deceased wonders around because it can't enter the spritual realm since he didn't die on his time. It is believed that if a person doesn't die from a natural cause but from an accident, that spirit is stuck between the spiritual world and our world. The only way that spirit can enter the spiritual realm is to allure another living person and leads him into the same death, and therefore, replacing his/her place with the newly deceased person's spirit. Only then the spirit can escape and enter the sprititual realm.

It's not uncommon to see/hear so many accidents occur in the same spot over and over taking away many lives.
This is not a true love or vampire movie!!!

The phenomenon you encountered occur near accident sites. Creepy, huh?

hmm... This remind of me a girl i know who says that a ghost follow to her room from another person room. The other person A, keep on hearing foot steps. One time, L who was in A room's, saw the ghost peer through the door, (L scream..) and than the ghost ran away. After that incident, L, keeps on hearing footsteps. But A does not hear anything at all.
MLK, now, we know your first name... nice to meet you kelly..LOL.
