The Night a Ghost Called Me Into the Sea

hen I was a small little girl, my family took me to a seaside resort. The first night I was there, I slept alone in a tiny room adjacent to my parents. Dont' know why, but I woke up and saw a shadow outside my window. Now, being stupid and not knowing any better, I snuck outside to see who it was, and next thing I knew, there were screams and shouts and somebody was shaking me. It turned out, I was neck-deep in the water, and would have drowned had a night security man not seen me walk into the water. He said he waded in and dragged me out, but he said that the current was dragging me back in and it was very strong and he could barely hold on to me. And I was sleeping through all this, mind you. The water was freezing and he was yelling for help, and I slept through all this. I then told my parents that there was an older boy...he must have been around twelve or fourteen (I was only about six then). He had waited for me outside, and when he saw me, he smiled at me and told me that he had been waiting for me. He took me by the hand and took me towards the ocean and he said something like "I want to show you something, Kelly. I've been keeping it, especially for you and I want you to see it. Come with me."
I'm not exactly sure of the wording, but that's what I remember. Anyway, I told my parents that, and as it turned out, there was a boy who drowned there only a few years before. People had often seen him at dusk, standing at the edge of the water, waiting for something or somebody. Turned out, he was waiting for me! I never found out what the boy was going to show me. The night watchman pulled me out before I could see what all the fuss was about. The resort has since been demolished and a casino is in its place, but the memory of that night remains with me, and I'm still alive today only because I got lucky that there was a night watchman on duty who ran after a little girl in a white nightgown, walking slowly into the waves.

READER COMMENTS

This is how I see the world. The universe is a great ball of energy. Everyone and everything with any tangible element of energy is inter-related. If you break it down, you can explain almost, if not, everything, including "supernatural phenomenon" in terms of energy. Interrelated enery explains prayer healing, mind-body group healing, voodoo, reincarnation, psychics, ghosts, etc - and also specifically if you believe it, you create it. This believing it/creating it phenom will explain how some parts of the world is prevalent in certain supernatural phenomenon like voodoo in Haiti and ghosts in third world countries whose ideologies and cultures are seeped in the spirituals. Its kind of like their channeled energy created these phenomenon - the energy has always been there, but energy need something to mold and shape it. Look at this way - they say the average person only uses 3% of their brain. Imagine the untapped energy of the other 97% of the brain. Those people who are psychics, loonies, commune with the dead, etc., probably tapped into more of their energy reservoir - though not necessarily for the better because (as we learned this in physics class) energy is chaos. If we can look at this world in terms of its basic element - energy (which cannot be destroyed)- who knows what the world can do.
P.S. MLK, I see ghosts as residual energy, trapped energy of a former person/thing that should have gone elsewhere.

97% convinced - I have yet to explain UFOs

www.worlditc.org is an interesting website. It explains the phenomenon of ghost being living beings as existing at a higher dimension, just as different television and radio stations are separated only by frequency, ghost or "spirits" are simply living beings existing at a higher medium and vibration. Check out the site.

Just because you guys have never seen a ghost does not mean MLK's story is not true. I have seen ghosts on 3 different occasions. And according to a USA today newspaper study nearly 70% of people have seen ghosts.

to T.K.

Please tell us more. You've got me really interested. Does this mean that when I communicated with that dead boy, I was in another realm? Was I quasi-dead? Is a part of me still there in that never-never world? Can I get all of me back, or am I stuck over there forever? these questions have haunted me for years, but I never thought I would find someone who knew what my experience was, exactly. I grew up a very odd child, probably because of this experience. I'm still pretty odd, now that I think about it.

T.K,
I side with be. Can ghost be scientifically proven? I'm not talking about scientology logic. If ghost cannot be unproven, does it exist.. no! not in my book. Can it exist?.. possible but that's like saying there is a god out there.

MLK,

Well you know a lot of asian love stories deal with re-incarnation of past lovers. Lovers who were somehow seperated in past lives and re-incarnated to meet again.

Perhaps you died once 7 years too early. The 13 year old hearing this died of a broken heart, and is trying to time his later birth to meet you at a proper age, in order to rekindle a past romance.

X-files in the making.
