AM Personal Trainer Overcomes Stereotypes
'm a 24 year old asian male in Texas.
5 ft 11 175 lbs.
I am very much into the fitness industry.
It is a very competitive industry where your
competition is against 6 ft 2 200 lb caucasians.
I've struggled with my identity all of my life.
Being white washed in a white world can be difficult at times.
I've fought all the obstacles when it comes
to work, friendship, and dating. I've learned to adapt to my surroundings
with the best of my abilities. I've always strived to be smarter, stronger,
and smoother than the next guy. I fantasized about moving to a
place that is more diverse and impartial when it comes to asian men (especially
how caucasian women view us). With a preference towards white women, the topic of how
other races view us interests me tremendously.
I just started a job as a Personal Trainer at a local gym. I don't exactly
fit the stereotypical mold of a trainer. I had my insecurities walking up to prospects
at the gym and selling them training packages. To my surprise, I've sold 4 my first week, which
exceeded their expectations. Alot of other trainers think that an asian personal trainer can't
convince people to follow his lead to fitness. I had that gut feeling when I was being interviewed
at my gym. The director tells me that he wished I was larger in stature (Inside he was
thinking of excuses not to hire me). I answered every interview questions so well, he
gave up and hired me and gave me a shot. As I'm writing this, I am 2 weeks into training at the gym
and feel like I have a duty to asian men to be the best personal trainer possible.
Smash the stereotype of asian men not being able to be in a position that relies heavily on
charisma, looks, and persuasion.
I'm striving to be the #1 trainer at my location with the most sales each night.
I do get a lot of looks. It is funny that girls think I'm mixed with white.
I'm as Vietnamese as it gets. I guess she never pictured an asian guy as a personal trainer with a huge ass.
That probably why she was second guessing. Ironically, asian people at the gym thought I was mixed too.
I enjoy smashing stereotypes and hope that I break all their sales records on a daily basis.
I hope everyone in here is supporting the asian cause!!!! because we all need it (especially us men)

Just an update.
It's been 1 month since I started.
I am their number one part time personal trainer there.
I now make more doing training than I do at my full time programming job.
There's money in other areas besides medicine, law, and academia.

Asian female from Houston,
It's always nice to see Asian females supporting Asian males and vice versa. Especially since we're a minority in a predominantly white society. I like both Asian and white women (also latino and black). To be honest it sometimes bothers me when I see Asian women with non-Asian men, but I shouldn't be, because I don't know them. I've gotten to know some white men who have Asian girlfriends and I've found most of them to be really nice guys. At the same time I know many Asian guys (family and friends) with white girlfriends. It all boils down to who you're attracted to and how your personalities match up, race shouldn't be a factor, but sometimes it is.
It just seems to me that Asian girls have an easier time attracting men of other races. While Asian guys (not all) tend to be more conservative, shy and less out-going/sociable especially around white people (myself included). As a result they tend not to get the girl that they want, either Asian or white. This is unfortunate, because if we all had someone to love there wouldn't be any inter-racial dating issue, we'd all be too busy with our significant other.
I see this site as a great place for Asian guys to help each other out. To give each other advice and encouragement to get the girl that they want (Asian, white, black, latino, etc.) When I hear stories like RycherX's it gives me inspiration because I can relate to how he feels and learn from how he handled his situation. I hope more AM share their stories of how they got their girl. My apologies for such a long post. Peace.

Asian female from Houston,
My preference is for white woman.
However, I am happy with my asian girlfriend. She's my first taste of
asia and I like it.
What a babe!
I'm just encouraging asian men to have just as much game as asian females.
It doesn't bother me that asian girls hook up with non asian guys, it just bothers me when asian men don't.

How funny. You tell us to support the Asian cause ("especially us men") but at the same time you don't mind telling us you have a preference for white women. Why don't you support the Asian females who might not be in the same category of the buxomy, big assed white female or whatever wet-dream fantasy you have of white women and we Asian females will disengage ourselves from our fantasies of white men, black men, and latino men. Some of you Asian men who's trying to uphold the asian race are so hypocritical it's sickening.

Much props RycherX, much respect! Your life describes my life to a T, but I haven't venture into the personal trainer field. I've been through alot of adversity and seen alot of crap in my life. I'm sure any Asian American has been through the same. So I used weight lifting as one way to overcome adversities in my life. I started working out a long time ago to break the sterotypical mold of an Asian male. I'm pretty tall myself, same as your height Rycher. So why not add a muscular physique to it? After almost 7 years of working out religiously, I've added about 60 lbs of muscle. I now weight in at a lean 202 lbs with a 33 inch waist and a ghetto booty to add! The looks I get from people now-a-days are either from intimidation or of respect. Respect we as Asian men have been longing to have. So to all my Asian bros and sisters who are striving to break sterotypes and who are supporting the Asian cause, keep up the good fight because one day we will win. Peace!
