[quote=[mugen],Aug 20 2005, 06:38 PM] Regarding that link you posted from that thread in the HawaiiThreads forum: Did you even bother to read what that poster Malia wrote? How she wrote about Okinawans mixing with the Portuguese and a majority of Okinawans having red, tightly curled hair. Buddy, Okinawans look no different from the people in mainland China and the people in Japan! Furthurmore, Okinawans never historically mixed with the Portuguese or any other Europeans. Okinawans saw Europeans as a threat and as potential colonizers of the Ryukyu Islands.
My mom is from Okinawa, and she does have reddish hair. She tries to hide her white hairs, buy dying it black. When the dye fade's her hair is some what reddish, especially in the sun.
My Aunt is the same way, her hairs not dark black like normal asians, it's naturually reddish, and her daughter my cousin, had reddish hair as long as i knew her, her hair didn't become black till she was like 16 years old. My cousin as a kid to her teenage years, had very reddish brown hair. Not all my family members have reddish hair, but 1/4 does. You can really notice it when it's a clear sunny day.
