Full Version: Asians On Fear Factor
Goldsea Forum > Asian American Life > Is it just my imagination or...
Ed
To kick off this new forum...

We are aware of two Asians who have won on Fear Factor and have spotted at least one contestant every two or three episodes. That seems disproportionate to Asian representation on other TV game or reality shows.

But it could just be our imagination...

Maybe people (namely, white people) like SEEING Asians do scary and disgusting stuff. Hmmm...

Perhaps there's an AA appreciation, or maybe there's an AA conspiracy, or could it be that there's a large number of AA applicants for the show? Good luck in finding the answer. Hint...check with the people putting on the show and please let us all know once you find the answer.

You missed the point, botr. The topics on this forum aren't meant to seek an answer to anything, merely to share odd observations to see if others have observed the same thing.

You are the kind of troll we normally would simply delete and ban, but we respond here just to illustrate the kind of more-smartass-than-thou post we don't want in this forum. dry.gif

I didn't mean to sound like a smart ass or offend anybody with my last posting. I really thought that someone was trying to figure out why there's a disproportionatly large number of AAs on the show. Peace bro. cool.gif

I don't watch fear factor too often. But I did happen to once catch a segment of a reality dating show. Can't remember the name. But it was this cute asian girl with this pervert white guy.

In the editted segement they show the audience, she just kept hitting him and running away from him. They even went to roller skating and she just kept running away.

Oh well, that's one asian female sterotype which was shattered that night.

If there are fans of reality shows on this site. Does anyone know if there are more Asian males or females contestants on these show?

Good to see AAs on major game shows. I'm surprised, however, at the lack of AAs on "intellectual" game shows such as "Jeopardy" (one of my all-time faves) given our relative success in academic fields.

Too bad the one Filipino dude I saw on Fear Factor made an ass out of himself - he didn't know how to swim and flopped about pathetically in the water before mercifully giving up. I mean, first of all, he's from California, and I think in California it is law to learn how to swim. Second, his ancestors are from a nation entirely SURROUNDED by freakin' water, for God's sake! And you DON"T KNOW HOW TO SWIM?

Can you guess it's a pet peeve of mine that "mah peeps" should at least feel comfortable in the water? biggrin.gif

Hellllloooooo. Well now there's this Korean chick on MTV's Real World. Isn't she the first asian on that show?
