Tigerlily
I kinda have to be biast and say that I think chinese AM are the hottest (cus my fiance is chinese cool.gif I can't say for sure what is is about his face, but I think maybe it's because it's a little rounder (not chubby) but has a nice shape, and he doesn't have alot of facial hair, which I like also.
MLK
OH GOD!!!!! My favorite subject!!!!!!!

Asian men are just...(MLK stutters, unable to speak)... ohmy.gif

It doesn't matter if he's Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Malaysian, Philipino, or Mixed-Asian...the Asian Male look is extremely sexy and highly desirable, and Chinese men do not own the looks department, although I've been out with a few extremely fine specimens--hehehe...specimens... biggrin.gif

I'm collecting fine pics...if anyone has more to add to my collection, it would be appreciated!!!
crasylove
Although I can only speak for myself, I believe the two most attractive physical traits any male (not just asians) can have are a great smile and beautiful eyes. Of course, other variables are also taken into consideration such as body built, height, intelligence, personality and so on. Ideally, physical factors should not be a deciding factor for choosing a partner, but realistically, a person's looks are what you observe first because personality is intangible. But what it really comes down to is the individual's preference.
MajorTom
oh you girls, is that all you think about? Cant you focus on anything else other than our physical features like personality and humor? I mean, its not like men go around judging women based on their looks... rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

You know, this is something that I get to hear often from women, AFs or otherwise living in America: "You are not bad looking.......for an Asian guy." huh.gif I would reply "Uh......thanks (I think)". wink.gif

From my observation, it is not always that Asian-American women get to see some really hot looking Asian-American guys. I look at myself in the mirror and I see a regular Asian guy (with a lot of imperfections). But whenever I'm in Asia for vacation or work and watch their local shows (movies and television) you will see tons of handsome Asian men in all shapes and sizes. I guess popular American media has its way of distorting the Asian image (I think this post supposed to be on another thread?) wink.gif

Anyway, if ever you want to see these men, try watching movies from Asia or get the Asian special edition of Cosmopolitan (or any fashion magazine) where they publish the list of sexiest Asian men. My teenage sister and her cousins always request this from me whenever I travel to Manila, Hong Kong or Singapore. Its like Christmas in July for them when I bring these mags.

Oh, and did I forget to mention the wonderful facial features of the Filipino?

Thank you, MLK. smile.gif You're very pretty yourself (beautiful, in fact) smile.gif .

My features are more Chinese though, because I'm a 3rd generation Chinoy (Chinese-Pinoy) with 1/2 Filipino blood (from my paternal grand pa and mom). I'm a mutt, just like you tongue.gif But I think like a Filipino, having born and raised in the Philippines till college. See what the result would be if we Asians hook up with each other he,he,he......

Hey, maybe we should start a thread about intra-Asian relationships.

MLK
You join in January and post a whoping three posts. Interesting. Veeerrrry interesting.

Thank you for the compliment. I do agree, mixing Asian genetic material makes for very interesting and attractive combinations (on average). And I have to admit, you do look more Chinese than anything else.

I think there is already a thread for intra-asian relationships...only there weren't any posters, so it's hidden somewhere in a musty forgotten corner of Goldsea, just waiting for the right person to come along and bring it out of hibernation. It seems as if the posters here are all fixated on the AM/WF combination, as if there was no other viable combination at all, and so the resulting effects are billions and billions of threads about AM/WF relationships and how to cope with the various intricacies of this type of relationship.

And so the AM/AF relationship is then seen as archaic and undesirable, and has fallen out of popular favor. And it's seen as trouble-free within society...no need for websites dedicated to helping this type of relationship survive the various image problems and societal demands placed upon the happless couple who happen to be Asian, but cannot speak each others' ancestral language. Go figure!

Well, to tell you honestly, I've been lurking to this website since it started (1998-99, during the time of Janet Chang-Hawkins). I'm sure the Admin knows who I'm talking about. There were no registration in those days so everyone can post as they want. Anyway, it was only now that I got around to post maybe because out of boredom biggrin.gif

You said "And so the AM/AF relationship is then seen as archaic and undesirable, and has fallen out of popular favor". Is that what majority of Asian-Americans think? Hmmm, maybe it was a good decision for me to stay here in Manila afterall laugh.gif . Honestly, I never thought about this gender-divide thing. Maybe because as Asians in America, we are the smallest minority and chances of assimilation is greater for us (especially for AFs). But all this ranting about sell-out Asians (male and female) didn't register to me at all probably because despite the disparity of AM/WF vs. WM/AF I will always have a special place in my heart for the Asian females. I always say to Asian-American females, "If you think you haven't seen a handsome Asian man, try going to Asia and discover for yourself what I've been telling you".

We need to break this cycle of insecurity among fellow Asians-Americans. Its tough, but somebody's got to do it.........
MLK
OMG!!! You're right! Even I remember that woman. It has been that long...but I think I didn't come on until the end of 1999...that would make it---what...31/2 years for me? And if you've been lurking that long, you must know who I am...I was all over the place back then. Holy moley! That means I've known some of you guys for years now. I'm actually growing old before your eyes! biggrin.gif

However, to get back to your point...yes, someone's got to break that cycle of insecurity, but HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT IT? What is your game plan? And is it solid enough for those who are in the position to support you to be able to support you?

Do you actually have any plan of action, or method of execution to achieve this lofty ideal and do you plan to share this action-plan with others?
adobo
HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT IT? What is your game plan? And is it solid enough for those who are in the position to support you to be able to support you?

I have to admit, my upbringing was a strong factor in shaping up my principles and philisophy in life. Being a Chinoy, I traverse the line between two cultures, Chinese and Filipino. I get to see the good and bad points of both cultures and appreciate their own beauty. During my youth, I never felt being an outsider even though my social and enthnic background is different from my friends who are majority Filipinos. They accepted me not as a Chinese living in the Philippines but as a fellow Filipino with Chinese ancestry. That spelled the difference, they welcomed me as opposed to the way I was treated when I'm in the US.

I was born in the US (so that makes me a citizen by birth) so on my 18th year I went back to the US to claim my citizenship. What a culture shock it was. Despite my fluency in the English language and an influence in American culture my US experience was far from pleasant. In the school that I was enrolled in there was a good number of Asian-Americans. I made friends with a few of them but to the rest, I was treated like scum. They don't like to associate with me because I was proud of being Chinese and Filipino. In their eyes I'm an abomination, a freak, a [epithet] who loves adobo, kare-kare, halo-halo and Arnis. In their world, assimilation is the ultimate goal to the point of sacrificing your very own identity. I understood them but, I won't compromise myself. To deny my culture is to deny my very existence. It's who I am. Suffice to say I ended my high school and college years as an Asian renegade. I hung out with people who liked me for what I am, and I didn't chose my friends and lovers based on race, because I know what is like to be judged simply by the color of my skin.

I guess, what we as Asian Americans need to do is to rediscover ourselves. I strongly encourage fellow Asian-Americans to learn your ethnic heritage because no matter how long you've been here, they will always see you differently. It's the anchor that will keep you grounded. I was able to take the hostility because I know who I am and had the good forture of having a family and friends that imbibed me the Asian heritage that I proudly carry. Its the confidence and self assurance that makes a man or a woman attractive. Physical beauty fades, character stays till the day you die. Oh by the way, I'm not an Azn Pryder. To be able to understand ones culture is to live it each and everyday physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In the end, that's what makes an Asian man attractive.

PS
Sorry for the overly long and dramatic story. My God, I couldn't believe I spilled my guts in an internet forum ohmy.gif
MLK
biggrin.gif That's quite alright! Any time any of us start digging in further into what makes us think the way we do, the result is a broad and deep mutual sharing of personal information which gives what we say credibility and makes what we say have a deeper sense because there's context tied to it.

Your formative learning experiences were an eyeopener for sure. I think it also has quite a bit to do with culture shock. Just because you know the English language and had citizenship rights does not mean you are well-equipped to handle an American public Highschool. It's brutal in there! Man, I empathize with all the young 'uns who have to make their way through the minefields and death traps that highschool is and has always been (and will continue to be).

In one of your last posts, you said, "We need to break this cycle of insecurity among fellow Asians-Americans. Its tough, but somebody's got to do it......... " How do you plan to go about breaking the cycle for the rest of Asian Americans?
CUTennis
Hey MLK,

I think you are cute. So you are collecting pictures of Asian Guys? Email me at xlee_78@hotmail.com and I can email you a pic of myself. I am just an average chinese guy, but you can tell me what you think.

Sorry, I wasn't able to answer you sooner. The demands of work forced me to attend to it immediately. Anyway, I'm back.

How to break the cycle of insecurity? Well, I can only speak for myself. For starters, give my loving support to Asian women like you smile.gif . Its not always that I get to meet someone who gives 100% support for fellow Asians (ok, Alpha Asian Males). We need to support one another by efforts initiated by fellow Asian-Ams regardless of how big or small the activity is. When each of us support each other positively, there will be a growing confidence among the Asian community and this will rub-off to the individual.

Another thing, it's time that we identify and support ourselves not as Chinese-Americans, Japanese-Americans, Korean Americans etc. but collectively as ASIAN-Americans. I don't know if you remember, but there used to be a thread here with the heading "Comparing Asian Nationalities". I have never seen a thread that had spouted more venom and bile in Goldsea. It's a sad commentary of how we view each other. How can we become confident with ourselves if we always view a fellow Asian as a competitor, a sell-out or an enemy? That's why we are often ignored. Mainstream society would not even take us seriously. mad.gif

What's my gameplan? To tell you honestly, I don't have any. The interactions I made with fellow Asians, I always give them the due respect and consideration and hopefully they would also reciprocate the same.

PS

Nice.........umm..........hair.....

I may not be posting again anytime soon. I will be traveling to another place and might be another time when I get back into the loop. Since you collect pictures, I might as well give you some from my sister's collection to add to yours. Maybe you two should get together..........

HOLD ON A MINUTE!!!!

You being a model and all, I would hope that you will share pics with us as well!!! If you're having problems posting them on here, please email them to me.

bbmlkelly@hotmail.com

Please...send me whatcha got! Even in the tiny thumbnail, you generate excitement. Can't wait to see what you really look like in a larger photo.

And I will definitely add those eyecandy guys to my collection on my website!!!

thanks!
adobo
Would you like my toddler pictures or my teen pics? Because it was during those times when I was actively doing commercial modeling. I got out when I was deemed a has-been. I looked better then. That's why I send those other pics because I felt they have a better chance of passing to your high standards of a good looking Asian man. tongue.gif

Anyway, let me look into it. I was never a picture collector even for my own pics, so I have to ask my sister if she has some of my pictures (she's the family photographer).

I'll be back in a few months........take care........

I gotta say that I like Korean males best......man, they're hot!!!!!!!!!

mlk
i saw rick yune several months ago.. at ktown in nyc.. i go there often since i live several minutes from manhattan. At first, i was like "oh my god.. tall guy walking towards me.. and he's asian!! ahh!!" of course all in my head. and it was rick yune.. at the time (don't know about now) he was dating lisa ling (blech) but he was with a tall stick think korean girl. He is so hot. I didn't know that he was SO tall. GOSH.

does anyone watch "the view"? well, when "fast and the furious" came out last year (i think), rick and the white guy (blondie) came on as guests.. and LET ME JUST TELL you.. all the girls were drooling and giggling nonstop over rick.. NOT the white guy who is not so bad looking either. Isn't that crazy? I should've recorded it. (haha) Especially Starr Jones, the woman couldn't control herself. Oh, and another thing, whenever Rick spoke, EVERYONE listened.. becuase he spoke SO intelligently and smoothly. I mean, he DID go to Wharton.. not only is he hot, he is an incredibly smart businessman.

ok. enough on him. biggrin.gif
koreangirl
Jung Woo Sung is my all time fav Corean hottie. He shot this commercial and movie with Xhang Xhe a couple years ago. Allegedly, they've dated.
(How annoying, why can't I post any pics?)
MLK
Rick's a smart business man? I thought he was just some empty eyecandy actor/model dude that had luscious lips! biggrin.gif . Ooops...gotta re-think this guy.
MLK
KimChi

Man, you're some kind of strange one. Sometimes, you're a self-proclaimed AM, and sometimes, you're a self-announcing Latina Woman. But what kind of Latina would call herself KimChi Devil? Why don't you just pick your prefered sex and stick with it, so we don't all think you're gay or something. I mean, why would a Korean dude say that he thinks Korean Males are Hot unless he was a 'feminine' man?
kimchi devil
MLK,

Hmmm, maybe you should re-check the name of the troll or whatever. (kimchi vs. Kimchee). *yaaaaaaawn*, next.

See, this illustrates my point, MLK, just imagine how much time all those truly alpha asian males have to waste on truly insecure people. laugh.gif tongue.gif

MLK
I don't know, KimChi...I wouldn't mind wasting some time with some good looking Alpha Asian Males. wink.gif I'll even pretend to be insecure just to garner some of that time for myself. biggrin.gif

Anyway, we gotta stick to the subject or we're gonna get canned again. Here's my next stud pic.

I am starting to become a really big Rick Yune fan! hehehe biggrin.gif At the start of all this craziness, he was just one of the guys I collected to generate 'excitement' and to prove to the general female population of the desirability of the Asian Male. I'm sure my collection is incredibly limited, but I had only just begun the process, and then I started getting all sorts of photos from everyone who had an inkling of what I was doing, and more often than not, I got a pic of Rick Yune!!! In fact, I got so many pics of Rick Yune that he's starting to crowd out big heavy weights like Jason Scott Lee and Rus Wong!!! biggrin.gif And I still need to add other Major Heavy Leagues like Jet Lee and (OMG, I totally forgot about Jackie Chan!!! Forgive me Jackie!!!)

Hehehehe biggrin.gif This is such a cool thing I'm doing. Please email them to me. bbmlkelly@hotmail.com

thanks!!!
MissIndigo
Hey MLK--

Check this out. I can e-mail you the larger pic if you want to put it on your website. Sorry it's so small, but I needed to make it 72 dpi and this is what Photoshop gave me.

This is Hyde, lead singer of L'arc en Ciel. And yes, he's Japanese.

Love, your sis, MissIndigo wub.gif

Oh, be still my beating heart! If the Asian men get any better looking, I think I shall die of a beauteous heart attack!!! biggrin.gif

I have added this gem of a man into my website, to join the ranks of all the other gems I've already got on display.
