First of all- excuse my English, as I am not a native speaker, nor have I ever lived in any English- speaking country. I am a white male, located in Norway.

This messageboard could have been a great one, but for the time, it is flawed- by racism.

Several people here claim asian superiority.

This is quite incredible, as the people who claim this superiority would still be living in the middle ages, if it was not for White Europeans and their technological advancements.

How is it possible for an Asian individual to claim White inferiority? Such views are not based on logic reasoning.

In recent years, it has become clear that Asians, on average, score slightly higher than whites, and far higher than blacks on tests related to visuospatial intelligence. There is no reason in denying the fact that this is strongly connected with the genepool of Mongoloids versus the Caucasian and Negroid one.

However, one must take into consideration that Whites are a diverse group, more so than Asians. North European whites generally score far higher on such tests than South Europeans. Recent studies have shown that Germany, the Netherlands and Poland, among others, all have a higher mean IQ than Japan. Spain, on the other hand, have a mean IQ of 87! Thus, the bell curve for intelligence will look different for the respective White groups.

Furthermore, Whites have a wider gap between the extremes of IQ, meaning that the average IQ is less consistent in the population. Virtually all universal geniouses are Whites of Northern European heritage. Even today, the most intelligent man alive on this planet is White. His name is Stephen Hawking- his IQ is estimated to be around 230.

Racism is worthless in itself. It becomes even more lucrodious and unlogical when the racist himself is not even white.

It was not my intention to sound like a racist. It is my opinion that hard facts is the only thing that may work in order to change the minds of the Asian racialists. I, for one, have very high respect for the Asians. They tend to be fine, upstanding citizens, unlike certain groups from the south. I'd always thought what is the point of having a democracy in a group oriented society like Japan or a hierarchical one like China. Proto demcoracy of the Nords or Greco-Romans up held the value of "individual performance" because it seems your ancestors' tribal leadership focused on popularity reflected on their strength, wisdom e.t.c while us Asians tended to lean towards patriarchical clan/family leadership because we considered "popluarity" elusive and trivial to more powerful human values such as spirituality that are not often clear in blind worhshipers of human idols.

Then why is democracy so important to modern day life? It would of course promote greater individual economic freedom and equal opprtunity among the masses to have their opinions heard in relations to authority. But why should an uneducated street sweeper have the same persuasive power to extablish authorities in comparison to a sage? Shouldn't this power vary among the merit of each individual or group to give a fair as opposed to an equal opprtunity of political status? This "meritocracy " business is what the Han dynsaty established for their government and I'd say it wasn't that bad a system, just like how much "pay" we get for our experience and skill.

Sheesh, we can't even honk our own horns on an Asian site? All I can say is that I'm happy with where Asians were in the past, where they are now, and where we're going in the future. All the talk of superiority or inferiority is just that, talk... So does this mean Asians should stop pursuing superiority just to make others feel better? Hell no. Considering the history of conflict, war, and economic competition that exists between the Far East and the West (in particular America), Asians are most certainly perceived as a threat here in the States and treated accordingly -- even under the guise of "fairness" and "liberalism". Why should anything spoken here of "Asian superiority" bother anyone considering many of us get a healthy dose of similar unpleasantries from American society at large? I wouldn't expect a European to understand, they are a different people. Perhaps it would help if you interpret "White" to mean "White American" in most of the discussions, I know I've usually excluded Europeans and others when expressing low opinions of "whites" in general myself.

So now we're seeing the effects of the exchange -- or migration -- of ideas and culture that the Far East was excluded from during Europe's rise. At least Asians have not lacked the ability to make use of ideas as many others have -- or haven't -- in the past. I suppose we did as well as we could have, given our isolation from other regions where progress was being made and the lack of "critical mass" necessary for the Far East to keep up independently.

Although I don't personally espouse any sort of racial superiority, I believe that a lot of the 'Asian Supremacy' on this board comes not from Asian people's views of European culture, but our experiences in dealing with whites and blacks in our daily lives. It has been proven time and time again that Asian people have lower rates of crime, drug abuse, mental illness, and premarital sex than other races in America. This is something to be proud of. In today's American society, in which Asian-American folks are bombarded with images of William Hung, Apu (from the Simpsons), and ridiculous immigrants, Asian people need to feel proud of themselves. I don't see how it is even possible for Asian Supremacy not to become reality eventually... the only things I see which would prevent this from happening on a global scale is WWIII or the end of humanity. On a smaller scale, we see Asian superiority as fairly commonplace whenever Asians and non-Asians compete with each other. Even with the odds stacked against Asians (income, opportunities, anything), the Asian will simply out-compete others on a consistent basis. The fact that others might be concerned about this or act in a manner which handicaps Asians from succeeding only reaffirms this.

I have read about the bell curve and IQ's among various races and such in the past, and I've thought about it quite a bit back then, its root causes, its implications, and I've come to a conclusion that it's a complex issue filled with bias, excuses, gimmicks, and agendas as well as differences in perception. There's a lot I'd like to say about it, but I'd rather not. The more I think about it, the more distasteful I find the whole issue... after all, what good does it do for Asians? Hmmm, I seem to recall Italy and Germany had the highest IQs in Europe... But then again I have seen other results which showed the Dutch and the Germans to have the highest IQs. I don't believe verbal IQ results can be compared between nations, since different tests obviously need to be administered where language differs, hence verbal scores are for all practical purposes meaningless when used to compare IQs of differing nations... only the spatial/numerical IQ are relevant since it is at least possible to administer the exact same test in different countries. If the tests are not identical, the comparisons made between various populations are sketchy at best.

Again this is arbitrary depending on what we choose to include or exclude from the group in question... For example in America, Asians are an extremely diverse group when looked at socio-economically... This is due to historical causes... specifically scientific thought which allowed them get to where they are today. However this is no longer something they have exclusive possession of. Disregarding these historical reasons however, Asians do appear to have an edge which ultimately will make the difference as historical causes become less and less significant. This edge that Asians have may not be obvious to you, but it is there.

Two major reasons why Asians did not advance as quickly as Europeans did was the fact that
#1 Asians were a culturally agrarian society longer than Europeans due to their focus on hands-on work while the Europeans sought to make machines.

#2 Many Asian cultures did not use the decimal point until after the Europeans had adopted it and incorporated it into mathematical theory.

Answer: Greece and Rome flourished earlier than the North because of the fact that the population here was many times as big as in the Germanic and Celtic areas. Culture is more important than genetical potential for IQ. This argument can easily be proved by taking a look at China as it was during the Han dynsaty. Compare it to present day China. Compare both eras to the rest of the world during the same time periods.
The conclusion we must make is also true for ancient Greece and Rome. Cultures reach a peak. When this point is achieved, IQ will be a big factor to determine how much farther the cultural evolution will go.

You mention the flourishing Greece and Rome. I will add that the biggest cultural leap ever made happened in Northern Europe from 1700 and onwards. I think the peak is reached, and western morals are declining. IQ numbers are of no good if thay are used for the wrong purpose. Also, the average IQ in Europe as a whole, is no higher than the one in East Asia.. As a consequense, Orientals with superior morals and work ethics have an edge that we lack.

Eastern asians are superior anno 2004. This will change again with time, too.

I suppose that the differences between Europe and the Far East are not unlike that which historically existed between England and continental Europe. Where did you get the perception that the White Europeans invented more than Asians did? Have you studied much about World history? or did you develop this perception because you live in the West & watch a lot of western media? You might want to check out this book titled: The Genius of China written by Robert Temple who happens to be English. He writes about practically half the inventions we use today were invented in China & many inventions that were thought to be invented in Europe were actually invented in China many centuries earlier. Even many European advancements would not have been possible without the earlier Chinese inventions. The Middle Eastern countries also invented things that the Europeans adopted - apparently the Europeans discovered soap from the Middle Easterners.

I live in No. Calif. & the Asians that I see living in the most affluent neighborhoods are Chinese - this is also the case in So. Calif. - most of these are affluent Chinese from Hong Kong & Taiwan. I don't know any wealthy Japanese, almost all of them are middle class professionals. I've even had Japanese people tell me that they noticed that the Chinese are a lot more affluent & want to know how we became that way. My husband's Japanese co-worker is even reading a book about how the Chinese became so successful in all the countries they settled in, because she says she wants to make more money. Some Japanese even pay rent to Chinese landlords. This may be because a lot of Chinese are very entrepreneurial , own their own businesses & are also professionals. Many Silicon Valley companies are owned by Taiwan Chinese. Even most of the Asian millionaires/billionaires in the U.S. are Chinese. I think the Koreans are even more affluent than the Japanese because they also tend to own more entreprenuerial & are also professionals - in general, I also notice they living in more expensive homes & drive more expensive cars than the Japanese.

I never considered standardized tests to be a PERFECT measurement of intelligence, however, they are an important basis for judging book smarts.

Whenever someone claims they are superior, I.E Whites over Asians or Asians over Blacks, they tend to say that "because of ________ tests, I know this is true"

For a long time, the SAT has been the main judgement of school eligibility however, the test itself is about to change. I was in the Archives this Tuesday talking with some officials from the NYCBD of ed who I happened to meet during their Lunch.
I recognized one of them and struck up a conversation.

We talked about the SAT changes.

fortunately, America has grown sick and tired of Forieners who can't speak english well being validictorians and ruining American traditions. Now the SAT will be graded on the scale of 0-2400 and will have a large portion of it dedicated to ESSAY WRITING.

The school official (whos name I won't mention since he might not own up to it) claimed that most Foreigners learn English straight out of a dictionary and speak like they were educated in prison. Using words out of context and so on...

So far, MAth and word analysis have been the easiest sections for foreigners to score high in. The SAT ESSAY section will filter out those pesky FOBS who excel at math and word analysis but dip their heads when you ask them a simple question because their english SUCKS.

I am anxious to get my hands on future SAT scores so I can see by gender and by race who can and cannot write to save their lives. Fortunately, the Regents board is also adding tests in college to test for Reading/writing competence and also adding Writing intensive courses to make sure people like Gododo NEVER EVER GRADUATE FRO)M SCHOOL. Not in this lifetime anyway.

Lets see who is superior and inferior in intelligence once those SAT MATH scores and Analysis scores are totally overshadowed by the fact that the illiterate test-taker can't write their way off a fishing boat.
