Yeah, I have found that Asian men are less attracted to punks, ravers, goths. Most of the Asian guy who I know have gone IR, like girls who are conservative. My boyfriend complains about how I dress, and I'm very random with my clothes. I need adive please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asian culture is more "conservative" in general than Western culture. If you go to Asia or any Asian district, you will see that the 'hot' girls are wearing Nautica and Gap gear. The uninformed ones wear Abercrombie. The FOBs wear Asian labels similar to Abercrombie. Since most Asian guys like Asian girls, the ones who go interracial are more likely to date 'preps', since most Asian people are 'prep'. The same holds true as to why preppy white boys aren't usually into 'Ghetto-acting' minority girls or why inner-city black and Hispanic guys aren't usually into 'geeky' white girls.

Of course, different Asian guys have different tastes. One of my friends, a super-gothic, punky African-American girl, is dating a preppy Asian guy. Goth clubs have plenty of Asian folks. If by any chance you ever break up with your boy, go to one of those places.

I wouldn't say that some Asians "hate" 'non-preppy' people. In my community, I am never criticized for being goth or listening to metal. I used to wear corpse paint to school with my hair spiked 2 feet in the air, and nobody Asian ever dissed me. Of course, non-Asians constantly bothered me and the other (non asian) goths in school.

hmmm, if they're second gen then most likely it's because their parents. although i havent experienced this where i live.

preppy yes thats a good word to use, i would have said conservative or even 'nerdy'. Most asian guys i know are intot he homie g hardcore gansta scene who think theyre down on their luck and rasied in some urban ghetto. I would say japanese seem to be more accepting coz most of them have crazy warped sense of style, crazy hair and theres alot of gothic/raver types in japan too. Maybe they think its a process of whitewashing heh

Maybe you can answer me this... why is it that Goth chicks like Asian guys so much? 8 of the 10 caucasian women I have dated have been deep into Goth at some point of their lives. Yes, I do like Goth as long as the piercings and tattoos are not too extreme. I may be the odd one out, but I find the dark black messy hair and pasty complexion to be a huge turn on for me. I would also like to add that they were all red-headed as well. I have also been approached by nearly every Goth chick at clubs I go to that does not have a boyfriend on her arm. Where I used to live there was a Sunday night thing at a local club called the "Church" where it was all goth all night. When I was there it was really easy for me to talk to any of them since they seemed to be so into me. Its funny because I'm not Goth at all, I'm more Abercrombie and Fitch.

Korean guy, if you dress 'Abercrombie and Fitch' (which btw is a company which is racist against our people) then perhaps the normal type of white girls will not like you. The brothas I know who date white girls are usually 'ghetto fabulous' or 'kigger'. BTW Lisa, most of the Asian brothas/sistas who are goth are emphatically NOT white washed. There is a completely non-Western culture in Japan called Visual Rock and Gothic Lolita, and it is a uniquely Asian phenomenon related to anime.

i found that many of the goth people i knew tend to be more intelligent and open to different cultures/ideas than the whitebread a&f type people. many of my friends in high school were goths, and they were some of the smartest kids to boot. i'd say that i was punk/goth/nerd in high school, and am now more of a casual tshirt/jeans. so i guess i'm one of the asians who doesnt fit the 'preppy' stereotype.

I'd have to agree with conservative parental influences. I don't want to start stereotyping myself, but it seems to me that usually, "punks" tend to dislike Asians? Like they stereotype us as all being conformists, or something along those lines...but then again, there are people from every group who disprove every stereotype, so whatever.*shrugs*

Hmm...I can think of several theories relating goth girls and asians

One goths/punks/skaters are generally more empathetic people, and therefore can relate more easily with others. Many have faced teasing and harrasment and silently dealt with it, same as many asians. Although were often priviliged, so are many goths. Although many of us wear Abercrombie or Polo, our complete rejection from the mainstream is what makes us attractive. Also many goths are actually highly educated and value intelluctual ability in their relationships. Lastly, many goths are exposed to anime and video games, and additionally, reject their own culture, they therefore have a natural affinity for something foreign.

Goths, tend to embrace the negative and withdrawn. Even though AAs arent blatantly negative, they are often withdrawn and have a certain pessimissm. Many goth kids I know also know how to sit and enjoy silence, and again this is a trait shared. We have naturally black hair and look great in black.

Ive always noticed a natural easiness between many AMs and goth girls white or asian.
Generally a lot of "normal" Asian girls are not liked by white goth guys cuz they are too cutie. Only the more serious ones/assimilated. In general with metal ppl/ goths the inside of a person is looked at while the outside is looked at as a reflection of their inner self. You see it in goth body language, always it appears that they are bearing a slight burden, same with a lot of AMs/AAs. The burden of intelligence and a certain seriousness combined.

Asian culture are more conservative. They don't like some girls wear lesser. It's hard to find any Asian girl are Goths (Although I know there are some Gothic Asian girl or Asian punks, but there are very few Asians like that). Today in Asia you can see a lot of girls wear miniskirts or hotpants but there's no punk or Gothic girls. They think the "girl is girl", girls need to be submissive. The thing that makes me surprise is even some girls themselves agree with that [expletive]. Those gals make a part of stereotype [expletive].
