I have heard too many complaints from Asian Americans about too many things. The ABERCROMBIE thing were they wasn't enough Asian models in their catalogue. Not enough Asian actors in Hollywood. Things from the Japanese fat chick in Cat in the Hat to the Steak house being name Chink, the guy is Jewish we are almost on the same side. It was the Jewish guys nick name, okay let it go.
About the Chink thing that refers to Chinese people and some Korean lady name Park gets pissed off. [epithet] is the wood your looking for lady no Chink. Another thing is you ask yourselves the most dumbass questions, "Why don't WF go out with AM?". Let me tell you why, its the setting you were born into and raised. Were I am getting at is that there will never be more then you want. You know why because all you guys do is complain. You hudle in your little groups and you complain about things you wanted to be changed. Nothing more nothing less.
Now the people that are trying to change things are the so called Whited Washed. We are the ones that are changing everything for the good of the Asian population in America. I am go to Chico State, not really Cal if you know what I mean. Chico was rated top ten party school in 2001, and 2002. I play Rugby and get drunk with white people and the token black guy. I am a reserve fire fighter for CDF. And I go out with the most beautiful woman I know, and you know what she is white. I plan on going to Saturday Night Live when I get the money for a comedian school down in So-Cal.
What I am getting at is that the non-white washed asians, I know you talk to us behind our backs when I am with my girlfriend. I no you guys don't really like us, but you know what its us that are repersenting Asians all over the United States. We are lifting the stereotypes about Asians. Its us white washed Asians that are making a difference not you guy.

Sorry for the mis spelling, I was writing in RAGE!

Pretty interesting. The thing is that before I got into Bruce Lee (which was early this year) I hardly knew anything about Asians. I always thought of them as proud and hard to get. To tell the truth I always thought Asians were the beautiful people and the greats of the world. I probably thought that since everyone I went to school with acted Japanese because of anime. So anyway I thought Asians were arrogant and didn't respect anyone else but Asians. Yes I did know there were nice ones but this was a long time ago. But when I figured about Bruce I changed my mind about them. I figured out how much racism they get and how "Whites" are supposedly the beautiful people of the world.

One of my distinctive personality features is that I usually can't stand things that everyone likes. That's why I was pretty closed up about Asians because I thought for a long time that they were the beautiful and greatest people on the planet. And I'm not talking about opinion, I'm talking about general view. So it's pretty shocking for me still to this day that I thought Asians were so arrogant and like nobody but themselves and end up finding out these Asians complaing about whites or end up dying their hair blonde or something.

Oh and about the fat Asian thing. I've never seen Cat in the Hat but I this is the only thing that comes to mind. Just because they put a fat white woman doesn't mean they're racist to whites; same thing with a black woman. Asians want equal rights so there, they're equal. If some of you do think that is racism then wouldn't you think other so called fat babysitters are considered an act of racism as well? Just because she "Happen" to be Asian is no big deal. But yeah, if the movie did that solely to be racist then I guess I'll understand. But there's nothing wrong with a stereotyped babysitter who happens to be Asian. It's a movie.
Chicorugby
I am saying to stop complaining about all the racial things that come into their minds, its just embaressing. I don't give a crap about fat Asians on cat in the hat, I am just saying just let ti go.
Taliesin Stormheller
Ultima, your mode of thinking is what we Asians call 'exotification'. Thinking that Asians are the 'beautiful people' and therefore differentiating them from others is 'exotification'. Every race should be equal and good. Chico, I'm not white washed, but I am trying to change things. Not everybody who is trying to change things is white washed. You must Look to the Past to change the Future.
animarex
Actually, I disagree.

Asians do not complain all the time. If you think about it, we don't complain enough. We usually just accept things as they are, barriers and all. If an Asian and a black or a white were applying to the same school with the same stats, they would let the black guy or the white guy in. Asians will just accept that as being expected, and just work harder.

I find white people complain the most. They complain about EVERYTHING. They are the ones making a scene at the local Kodak store b/c there is a microscopic dot on the corner of the picture. Or the ones at the salon, complaining that the Asians are racist for speaking to each other in their own language. Or the ones at the restaurant, sending back their food even when the restaurant won't allow it. I have many a white friend that complain about "reverse discrimination" b/c they go to Panda Express and are handed forks instead of chopsticks.

I mean, COME ON. Get real man. Asians complain the LEAST. So when we DO complain, you better listen. Because our concerns are legitimate. I would rather handle life as a series of personal challenges, rather than having to second-guess myself b/c of senseless racial stereotypes and view everything as a racial handicap. I think white people stereotype us as complainers b/c quite frankly, they want us to shut up and disappear into oblivion, when in actuality, THEY are the ones complaining. They DON'T want us to have equal opportunity and equal treatment. Don't buy that BS. Complain more. But also, I agree with one thing you said. We should also get up, and do something about it. That is not an Asian thing. That is a human thing. Most people will talk before they walk. It's the people that walk, that become heroes, b/c they are so far and few. Personally, I think we're doing pretty damn good given the circumstances. I'd like to see how whites compete when Asia becomes the dominant power. Asia still has a long way to go to even catch up to the West, and already whites are complaining.

So you tell me, whose complaints are more legitimate?
Ultima_Nemesis
I said I used to think that. And not by my opinion, I thought that general opinion was that Asians were the greats and beautiful people in the world.
enlightened lady USA

I agree that White people usually complain the most because subconsciously they feel they have right to & everything should go their way. They should get the best jobs (even though they aren't qualified) & get paid the most & do the least. I work with a lot of different type of clients in my day to day job & I've noticed it's usually the White ones that complain the most about the company & product & are more blunt & rude compared to other clients. Asians complain the least on average compare to the other ethnic groups. My White co-workers even told me that they felt Blacks & Hispanics were a lot more sensitive to racial matters, comments, stereotypes etc.
However, if we are depicted in an offense or negative way or treated unjustly then we should say something about it or people will think you are a push over. Asians usually only complaint when it's a very serious matter.

I've noticed more & more White women dating Asian men in the last few years because I think the image of Asian men has changed due to the Movie stars from Asia (Jet Li, Chow yun Fat, Jackie Chan etc.) & athletes (Yao Ming, Ichiro Suzuki etc) who have changed the image of Asian men. It's not because of a bunch of White washed Asians (lost souls) who are out of touch with their Asian culture/values/history because you can be proud of being Asian & American at the same time. I've noticed that people who are White washed & confused usually start to get in touch with their Asianness after they finish college & start to really experience life by working, traveling, meeting diverse people & keeping an open mind.

Asian countries don't have a long time to catch up with the Western countries because some have already surpassed them (economics, technology, per capita income): Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, S. Korea (Corea), Hong Kong - and watch out for the rapidly growing economic powerhouse China which will be surpassing Japan's economy in the very near future. Quite a few of the Western countries have smaller economies than these Asian countries.
Ultima_Nemesis
What exactly is a white washed Asian. How do they act? Maybe that's just their choice of living. Human beings are human beings and if some Asians absolutely feel white inside then let them. Just like I guess some Blacks feel like an Asian in a black person's body.
Gouraijer
If openly socializing with anyone regardless of race is whitewashed, then consider me whitewashed! I don't think that socializing with people of other ethnic groups requires throwing away one's asian identity, nor do I think that having an asian identity means you can only hang out with asians. Building these bridges is what America's all about to me.
enlightened lady USA

Socializing with people of other ethnic groups doesn't mean you are Whitewashed , because if you live in a multi ethnic/cultural country it would only be natural to associate with people other than your own ethnic group some times - & this goes for White,Black & Hispanics as well. It doesn't mean you are in denial of your Asianness or any other ethnicity if you socialize with other groups. But there are some people who purposely/consciously do it because they don't want to hang out with anybody from their own ethnic group - this is unfortunate & sad because there are good, bad, interesting, cool people in every ethnicity & you could be missing out on meeting somebody that you would really enjoy being friends with.

Speaking of complaining...I find that white women complain the MOST and the LOUDEST about everything, followed very closely by Asian women, who also tend to act like the uptight prissies that they are. After the Asian women come the middle east men who think they're gods' gift to women, and then the white men who think they own the world. Complain, complain, complain! Dang it...drives me nuts! And then, on occasion, there is the rare and lonely asian man who comes in, after I've been bombarded with all the complaints and not feeling too sociable, and although he may have a legitimate complaint, will get chili-sauced by me.

Just my two pennies about complaining people...they suck.

BasinBictory
MLK,

We Asian men love it when you stand up for us! tongue.gif

Because we're too stolid and staid to speak up ourselves! unsure.gif

Seriously, Asians in general tend to be far less activist and vocal concerning life's little indignities than most other ethnic groups in America.
Krazyjojo05
Well whitewashed literally means that American Cutulre/and Racial Identity has completely overruned the original heritage of the Asian. However it's for the most part used in a connotation that the Asian is ashamed of being asians and go to great lengths to dissassociate himself from both asian culture and people.

Of course it's in everyones' social rights to do so, but it tends to lead to self loathing and isn't healthy for the mind.

There is some truth to your statement.

You know I have to agree with Animarex

I dont think asian people complain enough. I'm not sure why. I just find that asians are usually the last to protest. If I'm in a class and have to complain to the teacher about something bet your bottom dollar its like you have to force the complaint out of an asian student. Imagine youre paying for a service and getting shortchanged and the person you paid for the service is acting like theyre doing you a favour!

As a matter of fact I find asians are stepped on by everyone else a bit too much - I'm not asian and it pisses me off too sometimes. I dont think its fair to say asians complain a lot. Just my two cents.
C.W.G
First of all: Chico, U know what's called "Losing yourself". That's you. I think that Asian don't even complain enough compare to other minorities. You just like 50 cent, he's another mother [expletive]in white-ass-kisser (Sell [expletive] to suburb white crackers). Guess what, u are domesticated by white people, I feel sorry for your ass. See? that's the reason why other people think that we're too submissive and shy.

Second thing I wanna say is there are some of the Asian's complaints doesn't make sense. Like "why am can't get wf" or Abercranbie [expletive]...etc. when I see that kinda complaint I always break up and crack. I think there are many Asians are smart, but they're too childish as well.

We shall learn a lil bit about how black people do. They're the one who doing right. I know there are a lot of Asians don like black, think they're all poor people or gangster or something. I think that u guys shouldn't be so conservative. U should keep yourself but not to be conservative. If u wanna be well in the US as a minority, u shall not be a conservative.
C.W.G
MLK,

Sorry I diodn't read yours. You're sayin the second reply I gonna post. Good call, man.

I'm an asian female born in the States and grew up in a mix neighborhood of hispanics, asians, whites , blacks...etc. When
I tell people that...they assume I lived in the ghetto. NO....a normal neighborhood in Springfield, Va. ...not a ghetto.
Then....in the 6th grade...my family decided to move to the Suburbs. Talk about shell shock....where almost everyone
was white. I kind of felt weird for awhile and noticed all these white guys liking me. I was the minority....but I didn't
feel any racism. I was the typical cute quiet asian chick that didn't exactly hung out with the popular kids...but always
had a popular guy crushing on me. Anyway,.....all of a sudden ..,I was considered a "prep" or sell out....when I moved
back to Springfield, VA. with my dad...because my mom died of cancer. I moved back to Springfield in my junior
year of high school. THe high school there....was segregated...alot had changed. The kids that remembered me
before I moved...were cool with me. The kids that never met me ...were either racist or mad at me...because I
was' nt hanging out with my "RACE". I got ostracized by asian peers and other racial groups. I had white friends
and was stereotypically called a twinkie. I had popular guys crushing on me....but I had friends in different cliques.
I quess...I was considered a floater. A couple of guys would run into me on purpose...and joke I should play
football...I think they may have been a grade lower than me. I quess...it was because I was a tall asian girl and was
intimidated by me.....you think your cool by picking on a chick.? Depending on the clique...pretty much depended on
how they felt about me. I resent people implying I'm white washed. I was born and raised in the states. And lived in the
Suburbs....do you expect me to talk ebonics to be cool?? Either way....pretending to be inarticulate is stupid...because
I SOUND WHITE?? F@$K you. WHile the asian cliques looked at me like a sell out. Hello? You guys promote
racism...by being segregated!!! I took pride in having friends of different races...asians...whites..hispanics..and
blacks...was not about race with me. So...before you call someone ASIAN white wash....consider why you have
issues with that. Maybe...your racist.

I don't know if you're imagining the issues or if they really exist...

You act like being Asian is causing you problems or something? Holy cow !? There's a whole discussion board on Asian problems?

You tell me that if you see a white guy or black guy in China (and you're friends with him/her), do you not refer to him/her as the "white/black" guy? If it helps people understand you better, you bet your ass you will.

Life is like chess, you are presented with a situation, you have to handle it. It's just like that. Black people know they can't be "rich and successful" the "old fashion" way... so what did they do? They rapped and they did their own thing, and guess what? People liked them for it. GOD DAMN IT. The Asian stereotypes are mostly positive for god's sake !

Btw, be smart about it, seriously... THINK. Do you believe all white people are dumber than you? Do you believe all blacks bigger and stronger than you? Do you SERIOUSLY believe all blacks are "gangsta's" ? Now, if you don't (I am assuming, otherwise, you are smart enough to be Asian), then it's reasonable to assume that whites don't QUITE think that way neither.

Some of you said that Asians have a harder time getting good jobs and/or schooling? Are you high? Asians have the highest average income and schooling amongst ALL ETHIC GROUPS (including whites and even jews). Don't blame your own problem as problems of "Asians". Geez, I know Asian who freaking LIVE off the fact that they are Asians. They dress well, speak well (some of them even TRY to speak differently than typical whites), they lived off the fact that people respect them right off the bat. Think about it, if you are trapped in a burning house... A white guy scream "I think I can get us out !" and an Asian guy screams the same thing... Who would be paid more attention to? People are only racist WHEN they can afford doing so. No company would hire a white guy over an Asian AS LONG AS the Asian performed better.

You think people give enough of a damn to punish themselves (having a second rate employee punishes the company), FOR YOU? Don't kid yourself, people only talk about race when they got nothing else to do... Like now, when I am browsing the net...

Don't try to be "white" nor try to be "Asian"... just be whatever the hell you are. If you put EFFORT into something more so than others... that's a sign that you're different than them.

Btw, lots of white don't EVEN KNOW there's a shortage of Asians in the modeling industry or on TV... Because we don't give a damn. You bring the issues up and it's like you're are putting yourselves down. Think about it, USA is white-majority, so NO [expletive], most products will be advertised toward whites. I mean how many times have you seen a computer/cell phone commercial use Asian actors ? A lot more often than let's say... a Rap video. Why? Because of the targeted consumers.

Don't be so self-important and kid yourself into thinking people really CARE about your race. Even if people do, YOU HAVE IT GOOD. So what if they assume you're smart? WTF, I would kill for that. Do you think the girls believe a white guy who claimed to be a doctor MORE or an Asian guy? Hell, I can't find ONE SHOW with a hospital that does not AT LEAST feature one token Asian. It's like Blacks and Rap videos.

Learn to benefit for stereotypes. I am going to get my friend to post here... He's about the most successful Asian who use being Asian to his advantage. The women around him are freaking CONVINCED that dating Asian is the new trend. They actually have a POSITIVE first impression of Asian then men of their own race ! Everyone love them wise, helpful, kind Asian who most likely own the fanciest car on the block...

I can't believe you are complaining... Maybe it's because I am in Canada...
