Hello. I have been visiting this forum for a few months now and have noticed a few troubling things and would like to get a couple of opinions on them....

1) Why does there seem to be a double standard for Asian men and Asian women when dating interracially? It seems that there is an assumption that if an Asian woman is in an interracial relationship, the man has a fetish and she is "white washed" but the Asian man is championed if he is able to get the "hot white chick".... why?

2) There have been a lot of references to the way the media misrepresents Asian men and women and how that hinders and exploits them, respectively, in the dating field. There have also been a few questions about the alleged animosity between the Asian and African American communities. The answers, for the second statement, have always been the same "Many Asians don't like black people because of what they see on TV," (once again a media misrepresentation). So why do people who should know that the media isn't the most reliable source so quick to beleive it when it comes to African Americans?

I can only speak for myself but in answering to 2), I've never had any problems with black people. In fact i have a lot of respect for them and have a number of friends who are black. People should judge people as individuals rather than as a stereotypical group. I may receive flak from AF over this because of some my other posts.

The answer is simple. People believe what they see and hear than what they read. If we do some calculation, how many people spend time reading from reliable source and think through and analyse matters.

Much easier to watch the biased media and be entertained, subconsciously being fed stereotypical information.

Of course, there are also smart and dumb ppl. Smart ppl watch what they see on TV and criticise things and form their own opinions. Dumb ppl just follow what they see. A good example if the AF-WM phenomenon, some people see it so often that they think that is the "most normal" relationship. And so they emulate.

The dumb AM who were going for hot white chicks are merely to anger and awake those dumb AF, letting them know that "2 can play the same game". And so AM going more interracial to show dumb AF what they missed out. Dumb only if they are going interracial for the wrong reasons.

If AM are angry, I somewhat know how you feel. I mean I met some real nasty AF who wants to attract my attention ( like saying, look I'm with a WM, why don't you look and become angry? ). I did a good job ignoring by focusing on my life. My response was like "look, you want to screw your life up by being with a WM for the wrong reasons, good luck girl".

Now I realised I don't really care about all these, I'm just gonna focus on my life while learning and avoiding the mistakes that others did. I will make sure though that my next generation is smart enough not to buy into stereotypes and well brought up with all the values needed to survive in this crazy world.
