i heard houston councilman gordon quan speak about 5 years ago at one of these national asian american political gatherings...he sounded like an individual who had national ambitions, looking to become a "somebody" in the political world...i also recall hearing u.s. rep. david wu at that same event yelling out to gordon quan (in front of a large crowd, filled w/ heavy hitters among the national asian pacific american political crowd) that he should "help" an aspiring asian-american politico "like i helped you"

i understand gordon quan was born in mainland china...if he's serious about challenging tom delay for his congressional seat, i sincerely hope that he's got no secret china-ties that might embarrass him...becuz if he does, his opposition will surely be looking to exploit it.........

and any embarrassment will only hurt asian pacific americans as a whole...this race will not be an ordinary local congressional race unfortunately, since the incumbent is a powerful member of congress and also had some serious-sounding ethical charges levelled at him....
