Several of these women are hard to choose from. Tia Carerre, Ming-Na Wen, Gong Li and Kelly Hu are all very, very beautiful. I don't find Lucy Liu or Bai Ling attractive though. Joan Chen is all right. Anita Mui is a classic beauty to me!!!

Zhang Ziyi has to the prettiest of all. She has the most mystical look out of all of these

I will never forget the first scene--a close-up of Gong Li's tear-stained face--in "Raise the Red Lantern". "She is the most beautiful woman in the world," I said to myself, and that opinion has not changed.

I agree with OriginalSyn. That movie is one of my faves because that's the first movie that I've seen her in. What sets her apart from all other Asian actresses is that aura that she has; like she exists on another higher plane. There's also a sense of mystery in that you can't really describe with words which parts of her are enrapturing; it's not that she has a goddess-like figure(like Tia Carerre), large doe-like eyes(like almost all Asian actresses that are considered beautiful) or youth or sex-appeal. She's just simply awe inspiring. Also when you see her in the few media photos there are of her, she somehow seems out of place in modern life.

We make all this fuss on Kristen Kreuk and Keanu Reeves so should Nancy Kwan and Angela Harry be included in this list. They are part Caucasian and they look half white/asian. Tia Carrere and Kelly Hu are mixed too but they look more Asian.

If you're going to put mixed actresses then I'd say Jennifer Tilly. She's not drop-dead beautiful like Nancy Kwan or France Nuyen but she's so appealing. THen there is Barbara luna (Filipina, Hungarian, Spanish, etc.) Also Shanyn Sossaman. She's gorgeous. Lexa Doig is cute too.

For a non-mixed one, I'd have to say Tamlyn Tomita or Gong Li.

If I were a star, I wouldn't want to be in the Asian list. I'm mixed. It's a different physical look and mentality. I don't consider myself Asian nor can I consider myself white especially since I don't look Anglo. There is a difference, in my opinion at least. I know others differ. That's why we are a forum....To agree to disagree.

How in the world can you forget Aishwarya Rai? Not only the greatest Asian beauty of all time, but one of the world's greatest beauties, ever.

Aishwarya Rai is drop-dead gorgeous. I mean she is so beautiful that she's not human.
Most Bollywood actress are unbelievably beautiful and sensual anyway.

But that movie "Devdas" was just too long. It would have been great at 1hr 30 minutes but 3 hours...please. after two hours I was begging for the drunken love-struck male lead to just die. The film was beautiful but then it dragged on torturing me with his forced-upon misery. The male lead's character was such a loser. I felt no sympathy but I would have if the film was shorter.

But are Indians included with "Asian"in this forum? Indians are mainly "Caucasian" in features. I think that is why she is not included. I think "Asian" here is more like East or Southeastern Asian. East of Bangladesh. I know it's the same continent but so are Morocco and Ghana. I think it's the "Asian features" more than the geography that this forum is comparing. Tell me if I"m wrong.

But I agree. I saw her at the Cannes film festival and she was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. For those of you who don't know , she kind of looks like Debra Messing of Will and Grace but 10 times more breathtaking.

well, if you're looking for real asian beauty, try searching filipino actresses/models/beauty queens/ some became playboy models..

I think Aishwarya Rai is absolutely gorgeous. Her eyes are amazing also. In my opinion, she is one of the most beautiful woman in the world, from the Orient to the West.


And to ex-crusader, what do you mean by real asian beauty? Miss Rai has real asian beauty as does many filipinas as well. You're not in the right by implying that real asian beauty is restricted to filipinos. I am white, filipino, and spanish. To many, I am gorgeous, but I appreciate the beauty of women from other countries. Aishwarya has something more than just beauty. When I first saw those eyes, I gasped from being so in awe.

Gong Li is absolutely the most beautiful & talented Asian actress & also one of the most beautiful women in the World. She has an ethereal quality to her.

i agree with OringinalCyn and Moeh that Gong Li is just tooo friggin' beautiful. she does have this celestial quality to her. like she's one of the female beings described in paradise.

i've seen Aishwarya too. most of those Bollywood chicks have phenomenal beauty as well. i watch Bollywood flicks too. my favorite are when they are set back in ancient India. like "Laagan:Once Upon A Time....." something or another, can't remember the rest of the title. that one wasn't set too far back. now whether people consider Indians, Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis as asian or not, they still have some qualities that mirror East Asians, be it small or not.

I think Hyori is the hottest Asian girl alive. She makes me wanna, u know....

I know I was kinda talikin' crap to this Korean guy on another column, but it was just some personal stuff. In reality I got love for all my Asian peoples. Yah, speaking of Hyori, she's just smoking. All the other girls from her old group can't compete with that sh*t, at least not on the level of sexiness. I think more Asian girls (from Asia) should pursue the sexy image. Well, I've heard rumors she did have her eye lids and nose done.
From what I heard from some of my KA friends, eye lid surgery isn't even considered surgery.
It's THAT common. Actually, many K-stars have surgery to appeal to the masses, so basically there's no stigma attached in altering faces.

What about asian music stars like Hikaru Utada, Kwon Boa and Ayumi Hamasaki?

Wow, did anyone catch that Sports Illustrated article on Michelle Wei not too long ago? There's one picture of her in a white dress and flower in her hair, and she looks so gorgeous. Yes, she's only 14 but she is going to be SO beautiful when she grows up, she's already got that diva attitude and when she gets older she knows that she can manipulate her sexuality for more exposure. Kind of like that pool playing hottie Jeanette Lee. Both are KA I believe.

I think that there are too many asian beauties out there to just choose one. But in my opinion Gong Li is really beautiful, even without make-up. She has this ethereal glow like she's out of this world. She is so unbelievably graceous, it's almost like she doesn't belong to this era. She has the kind of beauty that is pure. she has a smile that is worth of the Giocondas, mysterious, she can with a single smile and a look say more than words.

majority of the beauties listed are pure chinese there's only one filipina(tia carrere). if we're talking about asian beauties in hollywood, that's ok bec. thre's more popular chinese than filipinas in hollywood. but there shouldn't be just one filipina listed whose beauty is so unique in asia and why is there no indian woman whose beauty is real beauty?
