I was thinking the other day and it occurred to me that when people from Europe or North and South America come to this country, whether legally or illegally, they are referred to as immigrants. If they are illegals from Mexico or from Romania, they are called "illegal immigrants", but if they are asian they are referred to as "illegal aliens". Whenever you see pictures of aliens they USUALLY, not always, have almond shaped eyes. Am I going crazy, or just grasping? Maybe I have read too many threads on this site.

hewy:

put in "illegal alien' in any search engine, and when you look at the writing behind the titles, you'll see that more often than not, its directed to mexicans.

case in point:

Illegal Alien Resident Population

Mexico is the leading country of origin, with 2.7 million, or 54 percent, of the population. The Mexican undocumented population has grown at an average annual level of just over 150,000 since 1988. The 15 countries with 50,000 or more undocumented immigrants in 1996 accounted for 82 percent of the total population. The large majority, over 80 percent, of all undocumented immigrants are from countries in the Western Hemisphere.

MEXICO is what most people think about when you think 'illegal alien', not any asian country.

In fact, here's more information on the ORIGIN of illegal aliens, taken from a table in the same report:

In October 1996, 15 countries were each the source of 50,000 or more undocumented immigrants (See Table 1). The top five countries are geographically close to the United states--Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, and Haiti. Of the top 15 countries, only the Philippines and Poland are outside the Western Hemisphere. The estimated undocumented population from Poland has declined by more than 25 percent, from 95,000 to 70,000, since 1988, possibly reflecting changed conditions in that country over the last several years.

In the top 15, only ONE asian country, the Phillipines, is represented. If you look at the Table 1, you'll see only three asian countries, the Phillipines, Korea and India, are represented.

By far, its the countries that are CLOSEST to the United States that are huge, even Canada is number 4.

This thread was purely sarcastic. Some of the things I have read on this website are so ridiculous that I figured I would post something random to see what I could stir up. I agree with a lot of the things that have been said, but some of it is just stupid. Just like this.
Haole Girl
In Michigan, there were Mexican migrant workers marrying whites to get their green cards. In Hawaii, there are Asians doing the same thing.Same kind of situation, different place.
