Hi! I have read some of the issues in this site and have found many posts inspiring, funny and interesting! Im personally inspired reading of the love relationships between people of Asian nations and African American people i have never heard of this combination!. Where i come from (New Zealand) its quite common to see Asian and Caucasian people dating but i have never seen Asian/ Samoan/Pacific people combinatons, i often heard "this combination just dosent happen". so for a long time i believed it. Growing up in New Zealand i`d see many people from China Korea Japan Malaysia Thailand Singapore etc. But i never had anything much to do with people of Asia until i entered College (Senior High). To cut a long story short i fell in love with people from Asian nations there were many times in University i wanted to be in a relationship with a Chinese but i never showed any form of attraction but my heart was burning with love or was it lust? My grandmother joked ( well I hoped it was) one Christmas about the girl she has planned for me ( A Samoan church girl of course) So that Christmas i invited my Japanese female friend to Christmas eve service. I will never forget the look in my grandmothers eyes when i said "Im going to marry an Asian girl" her look was deadly! The only problem was that my Japanese friend already had a boyfriend, so that was that.

My question is: Do Asian/Samoan relationships exist in the States? im prompted to ask this after reading about A/AA relationships. As Asian people, what are your perceptions of Samoan/Asian relationships? Looking forward to reading your views.

I have often thought the same thing whether or not Samoan and Asian couples exist?
My observation? nil.
i havent seen any Asian/Samoan couples in New Zealand but im sure they exist.
Although Samoa does have a long history of many Chinese people who came to Samoa
many intermarrying with the locals hence why today there are so many afa Saina afa Samoa people.

Samoan`s are familiar with how the Chinese came to be in Samoa.
But my interest of Asian culture and people draws me to ask if this love combination exists? I think its more curiosity than anything.
Im very attracted to Asian`s but have`nt had the chance, if you know where im coming from?

If you don't check out their facial features the next time you watch a rugby match and you'll notice their Asian features. It's not there by mistake it's because due to the Chinese inter-marrying with the Somoans in Somoa. T

I am back in Australia now. I did live in NZ for about a year and actually met Tana Umaga while was there. Well good luck with your search for an Asian princess. If you don't find one in Japan, then head over to Hong Kong to the rugby 7's. It's on at the end of March every year but you'll probably need to start organising in January if you want to go. There are some nice Hong Kong girls that go watch the rugby and some that works at the 7's. Who knows you may have some luck meetting someone there.

Have you try talking to any guys? I think that should be the first step. Get to know them as people rather just as a person of an asian background. The problem with interracial dating is breaking down stereotype. Once people get to know each other, racial stereotype become less of an issues. Currently your mind set is Asian men aren't into brown girls, how do you know that there aren't Asian men out there thinking that brown girls aren't into Asian guys? So get out there an introduce yourself.

My perception of Samoans? Well the men are very good rugby players. I've only probably seen a few Somoan women in my life, so it is hard for me to judge. However due to the fact there are a few Somoan/Chinese around indicates the two cultures do have interactions.

i gotta agree with condor (whassup, man? long time no see). just get to KNOW the guys, whatever race or color they are.

if you're interested in asian men, you're in japan, so that's a good start, no? introduce youself politely. if japanese culture (and i can imagine that it is) frowns upon your being so forward, i'm sure places like australia, new zealand and even the u.s. will have enough asian men that won't be so taken aback by a 'forward' woman.

Yes i agree, iam surrounded by the multitudes of Japanese men. And i must say Japanese men in my opinion are quite shy and very handsome. I am straight forward (in my job) but im not the" in your face" type.

Yes I currently reside in Australia. I am not too happy about the rugby result on the weekend, another lost to the Keewees. That's 3 straight this year and 5 in a row overall. Anyway getting back to your situation. Do you have any male colleagues at the school you teach at? If you do why not suggest getting sushi for lunch together or something along those lines. It's a lower risk option but one that could kick start things if the guys are shy. Also do you have female Japanese friends that you could trust? If you do, why not politely suggest that you wouldn't mind meeting some Japanese men. Maybe they'll be able to help you out. Of course I am no expert and there are probably many more different ways to meet Japanese men over there.

Anyway there are alot of male staff i work with but they are all quite old 50`s 60`s no go...
I have alot of Japanese friends (female) and i ve shared alot with them regarding my feelings but i havent made the move to ask a guy out for sushi maybe ill give it a go. Thanks for the tips Condo i really appreciate it.
