So I went to go see Lady in the Water, what a waste of my money and time! Boring and laughabel plot throughout.

The absolute worst part of the movie were the painful scenes with the korean american family, the daughter played by Cindy Cheung and her mother. The mother was the archetype of the humorless, angry looking, non english speaking, and hostile asian mother. Scenes with her in her room featured, SURPRISE, a little buddhist prayer box in the background. The daughter herself had one of the most ridiculous asian/korean engrish accents I ever heard, I could not bear to watch any scenes with those two. Oh, the "caucasians" around me were merrilly laughing and enjoying themselves when these two came on. Har de har har, so funny. I wanted to vomit.

By contrast, there was also a hispanic family that speaks in accented english and the usual quick outbursts in rapid espanol, but by contrast the father was a warm, friendly face compared to the korean mother.

The most disgraceful aspect of this movie is, it was directed by M. Night Shyamalan, and as a person of color, he should have known darned better. In fact, his character and his 'sister' in the movie spoke without a trace of stereotypical indian accent.

Now, I can understand somewhat the blame can be put on the antiquated and racist hollywood studio system, the same one that refused to outright cast an asian lead in Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, but still, someone with his clout and power should be ashamed of themselves for perpetuating this garbage.

Thankfully this movie is flopping big time, but I ask anyone else not to see this movie. I knew nothing about these two offensive asian characters beforehand. mad.gif
