"I don't want to be in a situation where I have problems at home, because then I will have problems at work."

Q: Are you a homebody?
A: Yes.

Q: So if you had a choice between going out to a party and staying home with your wife, you'd stay home?
A: Yes. My whole life is like that. In the film business there are a lot of parties, and I have to go for business reasons. I have to make sure that movie-making is not all my life. I have a separation between my private life and the business. I have a lot of friends in the movie business, but I also have friends from the martial arts business and other different areas of life.
A lot of times we have a tendency to eat, breathe and sleep our work. Our friends are all in the same business, we go to parties with people in the same business. Sometimes I think you have to separate your life from that. br>     That gets back into why I take care of my wife the way I do. If we go to a party and I look great and she looks terrible, that's a reflection on me. There are guys who are more conscious of what they look like, what they're wearing, than their wives. I'm not into that.

Q: It sounds like you're just talking about how she reflects on you, like you take care of your wife just because of a selfish desire to look good. Is that what you mean?
A: Oftentimes I find that we mistreat people that we love, and treat others better than the ones that we love. I've seen that more in the Asian culture. I try to reverse that attitude. Is it for my selfish reasons? Yes, I have very high standards in that respect. I want things that are the best in life.

Q: What are your priorities in life? What comes first between wife, career, friends...?
A: I'll put it in a scenario that will make sense. If you open up your watch, you will see many components, big parts and small parts. If you take out one of even the smallest parts, the watch will stop working. I look at my life in that respect. Every little part is equally important to me.

Q: But what takes up the biggest part of your time?
A: Well, I make it very clear that I want to have a sound home life. Once I have a foundation, a home base where my thoughts, my mistakes, everything can be put out in the open, then I can venture out into the business world and do what I do. I don't want to be in a situation where I have problems at home, because then I will have problems at work. A person cannot function in that type of atmosphere.

Q: What about fidelity. Do you subscribe to the idea that a man should be faithful to his wife, and that she should be faithful to him?
A: I think we ought to marry based on that understanding. If you don't keep that passion alive, I think that both the woman and the man will stray. That's why I go back to taking care of your home life, taking care of your wife.

Q: Have you ever strayed, after getting married?
A: No.

Q: Can you see a situation where you could justify straying?
A: Justify straying? No. Going back to what I said before, if I did that, my home life would be shattered, and then I would have two things to deal with: home life, putting that back together, and the business life. One or the other has to be balanced. I want peace in my life. For me, my wife is everything.

Q: What about if she were to stray? Would you forgive her?
A: No. I can love somebody but if she were to hurt me emotionally or be disloyal, I would never return to her, even if I loved her. I'm just like that. When I make a decision to break up, I never go back. I never went back to any of my girlfriends after breaking up. When I make a decision that this is the end, this is the end, otherwise I don't make that decision. PAGE 7
