WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Alright even going back to the original definition. Are asian women artificial?
Well by saying that white men love for artificial reasons that is obviously a lie. Asian women are not artifacts.
And another thing psychology is a pseudoscience so none of this argumentation matters anyhow. Psychology attempts to crystalize processes that are in motion (organic).
But we all now how the dictionary attempts to oppress the white man.

I think a lot of Asian women would not dream of making the first contact with a man.

All,
I was wondering what asian women think about changing their names if they get married to a white guy. I guess there are a few alternatives:
-keep your surname as is....then what about the kids?
-hyphenate it eg Kristy Lu-Stout (CNNAsia technology coresspondent)
- change it over....i know one or two who have done this
- both change.....yeah right!
any ideas/experiences etc?

Jessica,
point taken....i guess i was just saying that a lot of people might be attracted based on superficial features (me included!) and that could make a lot of people "fetishists".....i agree a lot of WM date AF's for the wrong reasons....i think this makes them stoopid...not fetishists

I realize that in the initial stages that visual "physical attraction" is the motivator in relating to a potential mate biologically specking.
What I find hard to believe that as large and developed as the human brain is above that of animals is that we allow our base (animal magnetism) to judge others as compatible based on appearance! How can we be surprised at the divorce rate in this country if popular culture leads us to believe this is acceptable behavior in terms of rational human social interaction?
We have become such a lazy bunch of apes! My personal experience leads me to believe that we go about this attraction thing completely wrong!
My former husband of ten years and three children decides that he doesn’t want to be married to me because he felt suffocated and deceived in our marriage.
I ask you how do you convince yourself that it's a good idea to build a home, career, and a lifestyle that includes children and then decide that your life is too crowded or unmanageable and simply give up! No one believes in getting a return on their investments unless it involves self-gratification or money. Are people and relationships the next dinosaurs?

ok, I have a question. My boyfriend has never dated asian women before but always found them attractive. I am the first asian girl he has ever dated. He is 30 years old and I'm 27. Does that mean he's got a fetish?
I know there are some weirdos out there that insist on dating only asians b/c of some weird twisted stereotype (mostly negative) but what about the ones that truly are attracted to asian women, and for the right reasons? Do they still have fetishes?
I have only dated all white men in my life, do I have a fetish? I don't think so, since no asian guy has ever asked me out and the ones who does happens to be white. Should I chase after asian men who don't show any interest in me just in the name of racial unity?

Maxdacat,
I think the term "fetish" can generally apply to someone who selects a particular mate merely on appearance. They make assumptions about that person based on stereotypes or their need to fill their inadequacies.
If an asian male prefers to date an asian female, it is generally due to their common backgrounds based on ethnicity. Say they only dated asian females with large chests, that would be a fetish.
If a guy prefers to date blondes only, then I would also say it's a fetish. This male is fixated on her appearance, not her personality. It's more common to think of a fetish with white male & asian female rather than any male with a blonde. In western society, the ideal appearance is tall, blond, blue eyes (Barbie). Since it is considered the ideal, the term fetish generally is not used. The term fetish also seems to apply to situations that are not generally widespread. i.e most people I know don't have foot fetishes. Many men (& women) idealize the Barbie-look so it's pretty widespread and the term "fetish" not common. I do believe it is a fetish. By the way, I only referred to caucasian men & asian females because that was the subject heading of this messageboard (and did not delve into other races/nationalities). Generally if a person has a strong preference to a particular look and dates them exclusively, I would definitely say it's a fetish.
I'm only speaking for myself and don't expect others to agree with me. Everyone has different experiences, different perspectives, different interpretations, etc. I think we should be satisfied with sharing and not get upset if someone doesn't agree with us. It's called open-mindedness.
P.S. Albi/Albiyes should get rid of the chip on his shoulder. We're not out to get you.
