WHAT YOU SAY

[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Em,

I forgot to say that because these countries have been the home of people who immigrated there for generations, it is their RIGHT to want to make that country a better place to live for everyone.

Em,

The fact that YOU haven't experienced racism does not invalidate other people's experiences in Australia or anywhere.

As far as the comment of "go back to" wherever, I'm sure you are smart enough to know that some families who reside in the USA, Australia, or wherever, have been in there for generations so the USA, and Australia and ARE home for them.

Besides, have you forgotten that the USA and Australia are made of immigrants except for the Native Americans and the Aboriginals? You're smart enough to know that, right?

"I'm not sure if we're living in th same Australia but my Australia widespread violence against a minority is very rare"

Have you forgotten about the mosques burnt down in Brisbane and countless attemps on Sydney mosques? Have you forgotten about the attempts on Arab Christian churches? I do think we live in two different Australias. The one you live in is obviously a fabrication of your imagination. Walk outside, and you will see how racist Australia really is. It is probably a good rival of racism for America’s South. How do you think Howard won the election AGAIN. Because Aussie red necks voted for him because he made it clear he didn't want Arabs in Australia. How sad that we have a racist as a prime minister. His supporters were in favour of reintroducing the white Australia policy. I must admit that these were only a few lunatic supporters. Arabs and latinos where the first to benefit from the relaxing of the white Australia policy, which first exclusively made australia and anglo-saxon nation. Then they allowed the somewhat “inferior” northern and eastern europeans, then southern europeans, then latin americans and arabs, and then the policy was formally dropped. Have you forgotten this too?
Maybe you have a selective memory, and you have chosen to forget the Tampa issues and the Arab refugees turned back, and Howard then stating to the nation that these “undesirable” were not welcomed. Maybe you forgot that Howard lied to Australia when he claimed the Arabs were throwing children overboard at sea to gain entry to Australia. And only after the election and his win did he admit he was "misinformed" by his advisers, but only because the media gained access to footage showing what actually happened inboard. And he was aware of the “misinformation “ before the election but chose not to disclose it.
Australia was founded on racism, more so than America. We had a policy to civilise “aborigines” up until the 1970’s. When the nation was formed the forefathers agreed all men are equal, all men except the chinaman that is. Don’t you remember how the Greeks, Italians Lebanese and Latinos were treated only a few years ago because they were dirty olive-munching wogs? Australia has such lovely terms for all ethnicities which are all in use today on a daily basis, wog, nip, gook, Go out sometime, you’ll hear them being used everywhere and its normal because were in Astchraya matey.
You’re really deluding yourself if you think Australia isn’t racist, look around you and smell the red necks.

"If Australia is so bad, why don't you go back to Mexico or wherever you came from?"

Becasue if i go back, i'll be doing what you are doing to solve the problem, nothing. I will not go under a rock and pretend injustices are not eing commited, if thats the way you think the world will automatically better itself, then you do that. I will stand up and fight back.

Em,

Just because YOU don't experience racism in Australia, that does not negate the possibility that other minorities experience racism.

It's possible that certain ethnic groups are treated "better" than others.

In the US, Asians are stereotyped as the model minority. This belief may hurt us but it also works to our (Asians') advantage. I would not be surprised if there are people who see Asians in a more favorable light than other races/ethnic groups.

Listen:

When I made the comment about Latinos and passion I didn't bring up the link between Middle-Easterns, Africans and lower Europe because that was a given. Yes, the Moors invaded Europe Italy and Greece. So the phrase "Tall, dark and handsome" came to play. The common thread was that "Lover" trait. However that's not the point. The point is the interaction between us Latinos and Asian women. Whether it's the Latin Lover, the Jamaican Dexter St. Jock, or the Italian Stallion... that's the passion the women crave. Use it to the fullest. I'm quite sure the women what to hear about what we can do for them instead of the Arab/Latino connection. Think Positive Amigos.
