Fil Chick7:
Yup, glad to hear another Asian who is with me on this issue. I do have to admit that I do catch myself making comparisons at certain times. But I realize that it is quite silly and unproductive...
Anyway, I am just thrilled that for the most part, the people who write in the Asian women-Latino men chat board are more likely to stay from that kind of negative talk. People who tend to participate here are more interested in appreciating Latino and Asian looks and personalities than criticizing them.

Notty Boy,
Does the rivalry between Puerto Ricans and Dominicans ever get petty and vicious?

Don't flatter youself chico, ain't NOOOOO ONE is envious of Puerto Ricans.
I doubt any other group would be proud to advertise they (Puerto Ricans) have theee LOWEST "per capita" income among all Hispanic groups in America and not to mention one of the HIGHEST incarcination rate too. Maybe this is why other groups don't like Puerto Ricans.

Hispanics of other ethnicities also bicker among ourselves, its human nature. What makes it worst is that most Hispanic groups share more similarities among each other than Asians, such as, Spanish language, and influence.

To Flamenco Vixen,
I hear u loud and clear sister. It is so sad that Asians are very close-minded and always putting down each other just to make their own ethnicity appear superior to others. (sigh)

From my perspective, I've seen that there can be tension between Puerto Ricans and Dominicans, and for some reason also between Puerto Ricans and Mexicans.
Actually, a lot of Hispanics seem to dislike us Puerto Ricans; I think we're too cute for our own good. ;-p

I have noticed that Asians tend to be very critical of each other. If you looked at postings on other message boards, there are a lot of comparisons amongst the different Asian ethnic groups - and it looks very hostile. Is that how it is amongst Latinos too? I am sure that there are some good-natured jokes about the different groups within the Hispanic/Latino community but does it get really vicious/hostile?
Any thoughts?

Em,
Maybe it is different in Australia than it is here in the US. Asians are not necessarily treated better all the time but I have noticed that in certain situations Asians are viewed in a more favorable light by certain people. Again, this is just my observation. I think it has to do with the stereotype that we are harder-working, grade-conscious, etc.
Then again, I was not raised in the US so I can't speak from the experience of an Asian person who grew up here (the US).
