WHAT YOU SAY

Laura> For your question, the answer is "No."
I must be clear. I'm not a paid scriptwriter (as much as I'd like to be), and my efforts are, technically speaking, amateur because of that. However, if some studio execs started hunting for scripts, I've got one ready.
I don't like the term "aspring writer." That makes it seem like you're not really serious, and it makes you lazy (after all, you can't fail at what you don't do). I AM a writer, for good or ill

I was directed to this site while in the Asian Connection chatroom in Yahoo by another African American female who thought I would like it. Funny how when I am in the chatroom, alot of people ask me what I am doing there if I am not Asian. She told me about this section to show me "that Asian men are indeed interested in hooking up with soul sisters". (her exact words) I have been dating Asian men for the last 5 or 6 years, and to be honest, it is hard to find one looking to date a Black woman.
I am an African American female living in Southern California and you would think, with such a culturally diverse population, I would be able to date whomever I choose. The guy that I am dating now is Korean and we get "the look" every time we go out. You know the one, you pass by a group of people and their conversation stops, they stare as you pass by and nudge each other, after you pass you hear one make a comment and the rest of the group laugh. We don't care, we find it funny. We have had bad service at more than one restuarant as a result of our interracial status. We also get the "triple look" when we are out with my daughter, who is also Black (not mixed and speaks Chinese because, my ex boyfriend, the person that she calls Dad is Chinese.
It will never cease to amaze me that it is okay for Black men to date any race they choose, but Black women are villified for doing the same. I have heard it all...that I am a race tratior, that I only date Asians for the money, that I am trying to be "White", comments like "You know he can't do nothing with that little grain of rice he has"
I have chosen to date Asian men for the same reason that a person chooses chocolate over vanilla...I like it. The facial features that I am attracted to happen to be on Asian men. If they choose not to date me, that is fine. If they are encumbered by negative sterotypes of Black women, then, perhaps, they should enlarge their circle of friends. I don't force my choice on anyone, but I do expect others to respect my choice.

Thank you for your encouraging words Blkaznlady. It is so good to hear nice thing about interracial relationships instead of all negative things. Interracial relationship can be such beautiful experience. I love it so much. There are other asian men who think this way. Look at Lowfatmilk, he's an asian guy. He sees this way too.
A lot of us feel like this. Black women are so beautiful, like rare flowers.

Green (the real one):
I enjoy the comments you made in this forum and good luck in your career. I aspire to be in the film industry as well, but chances are slim. I rather enjoy the fact that Hollywood has accepted Asians in films and blended cultures together to play more major roles; like 'Romeo Must Die.'
Hope to hear more of your insights.
Did you really meet Jet Li?
(I adore his talents and acting. I just saw 'The One' and it was awesome).
