Southern White Girl: I’m glad your husband schooled your dad and brother on the basketball court, stereotypes die hard! I can’t tell you how many times when I was playing ball (no more, thanks to two reconstructive knee surgeries), it was automatic that the chubbiest, most unathletic WM on the other team would point over at me and say, “I’ve got him” expecting me to be the worst out there. It got to the point where they would send one guy after the other to stop me and eventually realize I was just a good ballplayer...

AM’s as individuals need to make themselves more visible (myself included) to overcome these stereotypes. It’s fine to be smart and cultured but there is so much more than that for us... And if you’re bored, check out two postings on the AF/WM (3/13) board from Asian Dominatrix and Matt Richardson, pretty intense stuff...

It seems to me that some of you think WF should play "shy" when they first meet an AM. I don't know if it is just me, but I would prefer to see the real person. If today I see a shy her and tomorrow I see a very outgoing her, I will be wondering what kind of person she really is. Speaking with soft-voice is definitely helpful; if the AM was born somewhere else, then speaking slower will also be helpful.
