I think my father and brothers are very prejudiced. My mom has her little ways of thinking too, shes just more quiet about the way she feels. She's the traditional, throw her hands in the air and have a fit to the ceiling.
Now they claim to have disowned me, since I have left home and started my own life. They said that I died."My daughter, she is dead. She is not longer my daughter"!!!(AND IT WAS SO DRAMATIC, IT COULD HAVE WON AN OSCAR!!!) Haha! So, you poll people are talking to a dead woman! I just want to inform you all!!! When I first moved here, my roomate was an asian guy. We started having a relationship. My folks found out and were so upset. They told me not to bother ever coming home to visit again. I was like,"to hell with it". I haven't been back to see them since. It is hard sometimes, because I miss them alot. If they love me enough, they will come around eventually. At least I hope so. If not, I will really miss them even more.

I just stumbled across this site and have been trying to locate an AM I was in college with in 1992. He was such a nice guy, and I really liked him a lot, but circumstances kept us apart. After eight years, I saw him again in December of 2000, but didn't have the courage to speak to him at that time mainly because I wasn't sure if his reaction. I can't stop thinking about him. To Gina Gianelli,
I read the post on your old neighborhood with great interest. Do your parents hold the same attitudes on interracial dating? Growing up, my parents had very severe opinions on Asians dating non-Asians, but 25+ years in America have mellowed them out quite a bit. Now they are just concerned with what kind of partner their children bring home to meet the 'rents: education, upbringing, etc. My sister is married to a traditional Italian-American man and even though they initially objected to him because of his non-white collar job, they were won over by his strong work ethic and dedicated family values. Now they are discreetly asking his mother if there is a nice Italian girl for her unmarried 35-year old son! *smile*

To the white females,
I have a question I always wondered about. When you first dated an Asian man, what were your girlfriends' opinions and reactions when they first found out or met him? When I first started dating WFs in the US, most whites would try to appear nonchalant and open-minded about it, but it was obvious that they secretly had a hard time accepting it. Almost all of my friends are white and were raised in all-white environemnts, and it took them a while to become comfortable with the fact that I would date WFs exclusively. Of course, no disparaging comments would ever be said in my presence but I have heard plenty of racist comments about black men with white women. On the few times I asked if they had similar problems with me, it would invariably be "Oh, it's different with you..." Any input from the white females on this board would be greatly appreciated!

I live in Fairfax, VA. As a matter of fact, about a 1/4 mile from GMU. I'm an attractive AM. I'm in great shape. I go to the gym at least three times a week. I have been with a few WFs before, so interracial encounters are no big deal to me. I'm 29 and 5'10", 180 lbs (of muscles). Give me a holla if you want to know more about me.
