What is Japan like? I have always wanted to go there. My husband has some friends that live there. Maybe after the baby is born, I will be able to get around more and do some traveling. I have always wanted to travel all over the world.

I am sorry that you are feeling so bad. I get depressed alot too. I bet its alot worse for you because your away from your family. I hope that you feel better soon. I hate to hear when someone is miserable. I sometimes get so caught up in my own self, I forget that others are going through depression too.

FTAH- I dated a black man once in high school. My parents didn't like it at all, but it was hard to tell if they didn't like him because he was a jerk (which he was, it didn't last long) or because he was black. Overall I think my family accepts Asians more than blacks. I'm sorry you have to deal with so much sh**.
To the Asian men here- have any of you had to deal with racism from your girlfriend's families, whether blatant or veiled? How did you react? How did your g/f's react?

Also have you ever felt torn between dating WFs or BFs that you're attracted to, and dating an AF out of some kind of duty to your families?

What have ppl said to you and your significant other?? Once, it was not against me and my boyf but just me... I was at a food stand and I asked the asian man behind the stand for a dumpling. Then he proceeded to tell me I would not like it. He pointed to my boyf and said "he will like it since he is asian". I can safely say I was NOT happy. I asked him why... and told him I have eaten them before... and he told me some BS of how I'm not used to it... but it wasn't in a nice way it was quite mean. I am not saying all asians are like that of course, I am going out with one and have many friends... but the man's personality really sucks. Needless to say, I am never going to buy anything there again.
We get the usual stares though, especially from the older people. His mother dosen't even know me and she says mean things about me. Ex: "she's ugly, she has a big nose...etc". My boyf tells me to ignore that since we never met but if she ever said that in my face I don't know what would happen... heads will roll... hehe. What do you do if/when ppl insult you?

Asain and White couples are 3x more than White and black couple, this is mostly accomplish by AF with WM. AF/WM couple are 2x more than AM/WF couples [but I think soon will be in unity]while BM/WF couple is 2x more than BF/WM couple. So all in all if you have the math correctly, AM/WF and BM/WF couple are pretty much equivalent [maybe AM/WF couple a little bit more]. Whites are more likly to marry spanish and asain then blacks to break the color barrier according to a statistic book. But it's less likly that you heard of AM/WF couple, it is why you might think people are negative about it.

Does anyone here think negativitly when they see an AM/WF couple as oppose to BM/WF?

Asian Men and White female marriages are growing in rapid numbers. That's the truth.

You'll find that in countries like France and Russia and China, IR's between Asian men and White females is seen commonly. In Russia however, you will find it easier to date Russian women when you are Asian than when you are Black.

It is growing in America too.

I have an Asian friend married to a White female. Not once I have heard them talk about racial issues so it is how one handles the relationship that makes it work.

I don't get it, just don't get it.
Where do you people live?? I live in a major city on the east coast and I've dated white girls all my life (30 yrs) and have never received any racial comments toward me when with my white girlfriends. I have gotten curious looks but nothing negative,generally when I catch someone looking they tend to shy smile. Also it seems I get more looks from other Coreans than whites. Perhaps its the way I carry myself? I think also in a major city with all different races, its no big deal, I do see more AF with WM than Asian guys with white gals. But i heard that the figure is begining to balance out.

Paradox and FTAH,

I haven't really noticed what you're talking about. Maybe BM/WF relationships are pretty common where you are, but I don't really notice them. Once in a while, I do see one, but I really can't say I see them noticeably more often than an AM/WF couple. I see them at about the same rate. I live in Atlanta, don't know if that has anything to do with it.

If anything, at least among white folks that I know, there is much greater resistance to the idea of a WF dating BM than AM. But maybe I'm just not trendy enough to see what's "cool." Maybe it's a California thing.

I DO think that media portrayals of BM/WF couples are more frequent and more favorable than portrayals of AM/WF couples, though I think even this is starting to change.
