The top .1% theory of Indians coming to America is idiotic if not insulting. Many Indians who come here are actually unskilled or possess useless degrees. Hence the desire for Indians to open small businesses is enormous. As far As Indians working in motels and driving cabs is concerned, nearly all of them work for another Indian and they save enough after a few years to open there own business. Also most cab companies in NYC now are co-owned by Indians and Pakistanis. Very few Indians remain employees for long. They bust thier humps in the hopes of becoming business owners. And quite frankly if your looking down on hard working minorities for working unskilled jobs in the hopes of saving enough money to become business owners some day, well then you need look no further then your own hard working East Asian parents and grandparents who went the same route. Shame on you...

You make some valid points about self importance and attempt to debunk the ethnic cohension theory, but your analysis of India and Indians is still thoroughly skewed by the same cultural flaws you accuse Indians of suffereing from.
For instance the preference for lighter skin in India was an independent formulation and not based in a desire for European acceptance. Indians had derived color barriers 3000 years ago when Europe was still a wild land. Your assumptions are based in a skin lightness index you adopted from White Europeans as well. What is fair or dark is ultimately relative to the environment. Even in your beloved China, there seems to be a distinct divison between people percieving themselves as fair skinned tall northern Manchus vs. deminutive swarthy, southern Cantonese. Was this instilled in the Chinese psyche upon contact with militarily superior European colonizers of the 19th century? Hardly...
As far as trhe success of Indians is concerned, it is a financial fact of life that in comparison all other minorities in the United States, they possess the highest average income. Does this mean there are no middle class and poor Indians? Of course not. It is merely a mean average of collective income tax paid being proportionately higher then other groups. Even in Hong Kong Indians possess a higher then average income then the native Chinese. Al this means is that the collective Indian average is better then 50% of Hong Kongers.
It is a little known fact that in every country around the world Indians, as a minority, perform financially better then the host nations average; with no exceptions.
As far as the nation of India is concerned, it suffers from countless maladies but to say that all Indian cities are worse then all East Asian cities is a bit silly and based in your lack of knowledge and personal experience. It would be the equivalent of me saying I am the best lover on this website becasue I am well aware of my ability even though I am ignorant of anyone elses. Once Again we come to the social reality of averages. On average China is better off then India but that does not mean that a sorgum harvesting bamboo village in a remote part of Northwest China, an arid desert town along the Gobi or a smog packed factory town near Shanghai are better then areas of
Hyberbad or Banglore.

I am a Chinese who has been to the northeast Chinese regions near the Korean border. It is such a pity how you Koreans (only the hateful ones) talk such trash about India and China, when you do not even bother to mention what is happening in North Korea? I don't need to tell you what goes on in N. Korea. The fact that thousands of them cross into China every month is very telling. What has the great and wealthy South Koreans done for them?

Just following up on AAX, true story, my girlfriends uncle loves to travel, he's always vacationing in Brazil, Dominician Republic,so he saw his share of poverty. One of his greatest wishes was to go to India, all his life, finally he and his friends made that trip few year back. When he came back he said he has never seen such poverty and slum as India. Although he love the culture he vowed never to go back, it was too much to take even for him.
