I believe there is a pocket or two of Black African blood in South India. I have also heard there is an ancient African presence on Hai Nan island which intermingled with Chinese blood. I have also heard theorized that the Chin dynasty had "negroid" blood in it as well.

"I don't think owning a 7-11 is much to brag about anyways."

A 7-11 franchise costs $300,000 just to get started. An Exxon gas station cost $250,000. A Subway or Dairy Queen costs around $200,000. My father worked 80 hours a week for 3 years at his Indian friends Best Western (1.2 million each). He saved every dime and bought himself a Mobil Gas Station. He worked there for 80 hours a week for 3 years as well to keep labor costs down. He then bought another Mobil and now 8 years later he owns 7 of them. We use to live in a two bedroom apt. in a middle class neighborhood and had one beat up Honda when I was young. Now through his efforts we just built a 1.7 million dollar home. I finished medical school a year ago and am starting my 2nd year in Internal Medicine. My younger sister is entering Med school this fall. Did I mention that my dad has a Masters in English Lit. from India. My father mostly employs other Indian immigrants who are where my father was 13 years ago. I know there are countless stories like this in the East Asian community as well. My kids might be the children of a doctor but there grandfather use to vacuum hotel rooms to feed his family not because he was dumb or even because he was uneducated, but because he was once a penniless immigrant. I would think that East Asians would not be so judgemental towards struggling immigrants considering many came from very humble beginnings as well. My best friend is a Korean MD whos parents own a few liqour stores and I don't think he looks down on hard work in any form.

Proud Asian 4 Life,

I hear you, as another proud Asian. I'm Korean, infact -- many Koreans consider your revered Mongols their kinsmen. I guess, in a way, I'm proud of that fact too.

But maybe we could just return to the PRESENT for now. In the 20th and 21st Century, Asians have unfortuantely been on the defensive due to the spread of Western Colonialism. Keep in mind that they (the Westerners) suffered the same fate at our ancestor's hands many centuries ago. In fact, there were no governments, lawyers or police to protect them then. Our Ghenghis's, Tamerlanes and Attilas merciliessly slayed Germanic men and raped their wives and daughters in front of their very eyes. It's in human nature to abuse our power. It's obvious that Europeans and their descendents are not above that either.

So now, in this day and age where we all police each other to keep each others' power in check, individuals compete on equal grounds. White men aren't allowed to burn down our houses and molest our women because they feel like it. At least now, with the Civil rights movement and anti-discrimination laws. It is our right and duty to take advantage of this and create our own power. Being proud of one's past is cool, but there is no reason to emulate rapists and megalomaniacs from eras gone by.

Get Real,

"Southern Chinese guy with very low self esteem. I think he calls himself the "kosher" Asian, whatever that means? bwahaha."

Ok, perhaps you live in some boring White suburbia town where people dislike Asians because they look and act different.

Kosher Asian is a term given to those Chinese in the Lower East Side in NY who are able to babble words in Yiddish because their neighbors were Jewish. Hell, some Whites could even say "Gung Hay Fat Choi" during the Chinese New Year celebrations in NY. You can also ask AC Dropout what is a Kosher Asian.

A Black mayor like Willie Brown of San Francisco probably doesn't know a thing about Chinese New Year greetings but he sure wishes Chinese people to hell!

Have you been to Katz Deli or 2nd Ave Deli? Maybe not, I assume your town is filled with trashy White diners that serve only burgers and fries.

LSD,

Depends on the type of Jew. Moderate and reform Jews are cool. Its those hasedics at are too strange. The Men in Black I call them. Their on a mission you know, but no one has figured it out yet. Even Bloomberg was like are you crazy, when they wanted to patrol their neighborhood with shootguns.

Once you get use to NYC, its hard to image living anywhere else. How can the rest of the USA not sell pizza by the slice? Its so un-American.

Some of the Mahatten chinese resturant are owned by Jews. I heard the ones near columbia university are like that.

get real,

"Kosher" Asian are those that get along with Jews really well. They do business with them and some even marry them. I see AM with JF all the time in the city. I also see JM with AF in the the city.

There is a lot of similarity between Jews and Asian. Higher education, strong ethnic identity and tradition, yada yada.

But I do agree asian are not those other ethnic groups. Just consider LSD strange nonemclature.
