WHAT YOU SAY

In Game Two, the Japan All-Stars came out on top again. Bonds followed an Eckstein single in the first with a montstrous homer over the center field wall. However, the Japanese came back and tied it 2-2. In the fourth inning, they blew the game open with a four run inning, capped by Hideki Matsui's line drive off the starting pitcher Buehrle that literally knocked him down and out of the game.

Japan All Stars lead the MLB All Stars 2-0.

Japan's All Stars just kicked the scat out of the Major League All Stars, 8-4, in game one of the seven game Japan-USA All Star series last night (11/9). Hideki Matsui's bases loaded two run double was the big blow in the 3rd. Koji Uehara struck out Bonds 3 times and Giambi twice. At one point Japan lead the US team 7-0.

Lets see what happens as the series goes on.

What the hell is an Asian Olympics? Olympics is Olympics. And Asian games is Asian games. Another scrub who knows nothing of sports.

Hideki Matsui will be fine. Anyone who can hit a 511 foot home run, which he did in the Japan Series, is a legit power hitter in any country. A 511 foot shot is further than any of Barry Bonds's homers this year (perhaps aside from the one he hit off Percival in the WS). At Pac Bell Park it is 490 feet to the scoreboard beyond the centerfield wall. The big glove in the coca-cola fan lot is approx. 500 feet. I can't recall anyone hitting the scoreboard or the glove yet. Matsui hits for a high average and walks a lot as well. He will wear out Major League pitching. Godzilla is for real.

BTW, whats up w/ Yao Ming?

counter puncher,

Is that the world or Asian Olympic stats you got there?

counterpuncher,

why do you keep on referring to corean success in the recent Asian games as a measure of Corean superbness in sports? You mentioned Chinese wrestling. From what I know, the Chinese have always send contingents to wrestling matches in the OLYMPICS. Sometimes they are the only Asian nation featured in Greco-Roman wrestling events. By the way, how has Corea performed in Greco-Roman wrestling during OLYMPICS?

Unlike the Chinese I will back up my claims. Coreans are best in Greco Roman wrestling in Asia.
Gold medalists Olympics:
1996 Sim Kwon Ho
2000 Sim Kwon Ho, again
1984 Kim Weon K
1992 An Han Bomng
1988 Kim Yong nam

No Chinese to be seen!
How else could you measure the title "best in Asia" if not by per capita gold medals or total medals?
Corea, pound for pound best in Asia!

It seems that the Japanese slugger Matsui is headed for the Yankees. I know that Ichiro Suzuki is doing fine, but in the USA, a baseball star is rated for the long ball more than anything else. An Asian homerun hitter can sure break and defy more stereotypes. But, he has got to hit 40+ to be legit.

Corean men's under 20 just won the Asian soccer title again for the TENTH time by beating Japan 1-0 in Qatar. No country even come close to this record TENTH title.
Corea defeated Saudi Arabia to reach the finals while Japan defeated Uzbekistan in the semi finals.
Go baby Reds!!

In my personal opinion, there is no reason for China not to rip it up in all sports. If for nothing else, the reason may rest in infrastructure above anything else. Some people have this notion that state-programs are top-notch relative to the rest of the world. This is a misconception, and such "funds" are rather exaggerated. Aside from this, the majority of athletes are garnered from developed regions and municipalities. Rural talents are often beyond reach.

Chinatown,
It sounds like you know alot more about China's distribution of her funds in sports. Would you care to elaborate?
As everyone knows its alot easier just focusing on training when you don't have to go out and beg corporations for private funds meanwhile working a full or part time jobs. Most athletes in the free world don't have the luxary of their governments funding their programs like communist China's athletes. Didn't you see the commericals during the Olympics where some of US athletes worked in Home Depot to finance their own training? Just look at the former U.S.S.R. they once were a dominating sports power now most of these Soviet satelite countries and Russia can't even feed themselves.

chinatown says
"Coreans speak an awful lot for the Chinese side. I can assure you that the Chinese can speak for themselves."

hmmm hello?? been reading some of the past entries by other people... "the Coreans" are only responding to what "the Chinese" said... so basically i can you can take your quote and make it vice versa...

"Chinese/Coreans speak an awful lot for the Chinese/Corean side. I can assure you that the Chinese/Corean can speak for themselves."

hmmm sorry my grammar and usage of words was wrong but i guess that's the only thing you can come up with as a "defense" for what i said about the chinese~=)
infrastructure?? hmmm...... korea's infrastructure is not as good as japans but we creamed them =) hmmmm so... that means??? or is infrastructure just another excuse??

HAHA: work on your English or your thought process...maybe even both, because you make no sense.

Coreans speak an awful lot for the Chinese side. I can assure you that the Chinese can speak for themselves.

It seems that the basketball game between Corea and China was rather half-hearted especially on the Chinese side. Corea, playing on its home turf, stood as a team envigorated with the willingness to win. Oh well, no one really gives too much of a , though losing never feels good. Maybe they'll play Menk Batere more next time around.

Do the Chinese, as a people, lack such potential as to surpass the rest of the world? Certainly not.

With all this being said, a comparison can be made to the former Soviet Union. China still pulls its own weight in international competition (the Olympics). We tend to end up third in medal count, which is nothing to be ashamed of.
chinatown    Friday, October 18, 2002 at 21:03:16 (PDT)    [67.98.161.110]
China may suck at boxing, taekwando and judo. But, it regularly does well in the Greco-Roman events. Along with Turkey and Iran, China is one of the few Asian nations who compete on an international and professional level.

Sut got,
Here it is. Chinese are so good at Greco Roman wrestling that they didn't even get a medal of any color in recent Asian games.

Corea won 3 gold and 2 silver out of seven divisions.
Kazakstan won 2 gold
Uzbekstan won 1 gold
Japan 1 gold
China 0
How can China be world class when they can't even beat out anyone in Asia?
Do you Chinese guys just make up things as we go along?
Counter puncher    Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at 18:52:07 (PDT)    [152.163.188.38]
China's loss to Korea in basketball is a national humiliation. Korea did not even qualify for the World Championships.
Some of you might say we could have smoked out Korea if Wang Zhizhi was on the team, but we have consistently beaten Korea even without Wang.
Either they all were paid to lose, or the refs. were deliberately taking sides.

Sut got,
Why is it that whenever the Chinese lose they ALWAYS have to come up with excuses? I still think China is better than Corea in basketball but the fact remains China lost. In Corea, basketball rank distant fourth in popularity to baseball, soccer and taekwondo. So there's no big celebration. I think even in China basketball remains a distant third or fourth popular sport. China has proven their basketball team sucks in recent international competition, losing to Germany, Russia, USA, Argentina and Corea. Only delusional people who's making a big deal of China's basetball prowess are the pathetic American Born Chinese who had no one to admire until Wang and Yao. I think the biggest humilation in Chinese sport thus far has to be their World Cup performance when they got blown out in every game without even scoring a goal.
Sure, we paid the referees loser. Well, if you had Wang, you could of, should of, would of...hahahaha.
Chinese are good at Greco wrestling?
How many golds did they win in the asian games?????? Yeah right!
Dream on and stick to ping pong.
Counter Puncher    Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at 18:33:08 (PDT)    [152.163.188.38]
ok you sore losers... i'm korean and i'm proud we got second!!!! woohooo!!!! but why is that everyone is making some lame excuses on why their country lost???????????? man... it dont matter.... its not like.. oh korea lost to iran in soccer so i have to come on here and say something like well... the iranian team had a better day because the sun was shiny and their used to it more bla bla bla bla... that's what most of of these wack accusations sound like....the korean team just lost because they lost ..maybe a bad day or the iranians were just very prepared.. i dont know korea still lost.
and i'm sorry to say this.. but... if your chinese and your on here complaining about how china lost or why china isnt good at something!!! thats all bull !!!!!!!!! look at your freakin population.... china and india should take the games with ease~~~~ so there is no reason for anyone chinese/indian being on here saying why china lost or whatever,!!! at least the indian people has some self-respect and dont come in here saying stuff ~~~
