well I can't say most Chinese are of the southern stock, but most of the early Chinese were from the Southern provinces and are usually short. The word "Chink" is derived from these people. This word has the connotation of a dirty chinese guy of short stature. I wonder if that word would have evolved if most of the Chinese immigrants back then were from the north. Maybe they would have been called the huns or the mongols who ravaged Europe based on their taller stature. Maybe a white man would have said, "go back home you damn huns," instead of saying, "go back home you chink."

As a Korean with great interest in Chinese history, I came to an understanding that there numerous ethnic groups or tribes in China, but they can be simplied into 3 major differnent stocks of Chinese. I know a Chinese lady who lived in Korea for most of her life and she told me that as a manchu she feels more close to the Koreans than to the Chinese from the south. She even told me about their different dialect, culture and their shorter stature shorter. I read that northern chinese comprising of Manchus, Mongolians and other northern type Chinese are almost identical in their DNA composition to Mongolians, Coreans, Japanese, and other mogoloid people of central Asia. Then there are the Han Chinese who represent most of the Chinese people. Their DNA is a little different in comparison to the DNA of the Northern stock Chinese. Then there are the south Chinese who are even more different. This all has been presented with a genetic scope, but when we analyze the closeness of each group based on history, Coreans had the greatest interaction with the Han Chinese who were actually more different from a morphological stand point. Han Chinese dynasty such as the Tang were often respected and have been termed the dynasty with wisdom, while the norther types were branded the title of barbaric tribes. Going back the gene make up of China, Chinese of Northern subtypes are generally the tallest and the southern subtypes are generally the shortest, and the Han Chinese are usually in between. If you look at most of the Basketball players in China, almost all of them have the northern subtype genes. Of course you are going to have some exceptions like a southern chinese growing taller than 6 feet, but from study on genetics prove that there is an undoubtable morphological difference based on stature and facial structure.

Give everyone a break- soccer is not everything. Why are people so intent on fueling the Chinese-Korean fire? Is Brazil superior to South Korea (which I think Brazil could easily beat South Korea in soccer)? Soccer is not everything.
Does it mean anything that China wins more medals in the Olympics than South Korea? But, then one can say, well China is many times larger than South Korea. So what-if one wins more medals or games. Olympic Games are not everything.
Anyhow, this topic is about Chinese males and Korean females. I've actually seen such couples who are happily married together. So, a happily married Chinese male and Korean female is possible and not out of reach.
