gosh damit i am SO proud of being chinese but yet hearing thise chinese bashing on southern chinese cuzz oh so wut WE AREN'T SO LOOKING TO UR STANDARD? WTF?!?!!?? i m sick of all u pple saying southern chinese aren't tall aren't light blah blah blah, shut da f*** up!!! i've been reading goldsea for sometimes and wut i got is this ,if this chinese girl is pretty she's northern chinese if she'S butt ugly shes souethern chinese??? geez is like people have a choice how they were born damit !! it's bad enough we're a minority in this country and even though we CHINESE we still have to differentiate among ourselves!
AND theres those koreans always saying how FINE THEY R and how they r soo much better lookin then everyone else blah blah blahahhhhhhh..How chinese not so good looking

In case u guys haven't notice i am a southern chinese and i m damn proud chinese i might not have da looks da height DAT U PEOPLE FOUND ATTRACTIVE but i am just as good as ANY OF U PEOPLE OUT THERE.
OH BTW I got a korean bf who is way taller then me more attractive then me,richer then me and got tons of korean girls after him BUT who is he with?? yes i rest my case. And no i DID NOT like him cuzz he's korean, just for da simple fact I LIKE HIM! in fact i did not know any koreans prior to him.
AND I m sure he didn't like me cuzz i m GOOD LOOKING, oh of course i can't be cuzz i m southern chinese!! i m glad i am not cuzz then i would have to wonder did he like me for my looks???

Southern chinese might not be as superior as northern chinese in term of look and education historically. But they might be more open minded and modernized, due to contact with foreigners for longer period than other parts of China. They might be more skillful in doing businesses ( see those prosperous southern chinese in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia) than those northern chinese (well, hardly find northern chinese in those countries). Well, two things I don't feel comfortable with southern chinese: the dialect and they are so loud. Hee ..hee

Yes, I do mean mostly Cantonese people. To be even more specific, I mean Hong Kong people and those immigrants from Guangdong who are strongly influenced by Hong Kong culture. I suspect that most of the Chinese who drool over Japanese and Korean men and women are from this group of Chinese. I noticed that this type of Chinese have very little pride.
I don't mean to make it sound as if Chinese from all of China worship Northern Asians. I mean just the Hong Kong and Hong Kong-inflluenced types. It's just that most of the Chinese in North America, and especially where I live tend to be of this type of Chinese. I'm Cantonese myself and I find this sad.

OK, who do you mean exactly by "Southern Chinese"?
I suppose you mean southern Chinese from Guangdong Province? Doesn't include Fujian or Zhejiang or Shanghai?
AS these are technically considered part of southern China also.
In fact, the area of China that is most renowned for beautiful women is near Shanghai, in Jiangsu Province, which is by most standards considered part of the "South" of China. Another area that also has a reputation for the beauty of its women is in Sichuan Province, in the southwestern region. Just look at a map, and you'll see where these places are within the total geographical area covered by China.
And if you visit the north of China, you really won't see that many gorgeous women either. Believe me, I have many times, and they are very few and far between.
Your statement above would more accurately describe the southern Chinese immigrants to US, but certainly not southern Chinese as a whole.
