I am not sure if you have been coming back here to see comments any more. The truth is, I didn't come back in a while, or long time either. Things have changed a lot between my boyfreind and myself. I have met his parents.(to follow up, they are Chinese, obviously so is my boyfriend. I am 100% Japanese with Japanese citizenship but living in US) His parents are pretty old, old enough to have bad impression of Japanese. I had always been afraid that they might dislike me because of my nationality but ever since the first time I met them, they have been treating me as if I am their real daughter. If they are the parents of somebody I love, they should not be narrow minded, I now realized it.

This post is not for those Japanese girls in Japan, but the Japanese-American girls here.

I know that Chinese-American and Japanese-American intermarriages with each other are very common in California and Hawaii.

In fact, after whites, they probably marry each other more than with other Asians or other racial minority groups. This is true in the case of Chinese-Americans. Our most common outmarriage partners (for both genders) are whites, followed by Japanese-Americans, then Mexicans, followed by other Asians and blacks.

I find many Japanese-Americans to have the same easygoing and laid back mentality as the Chinese-Americans. Our parents and grandparents generations suffered a lot from racism and as a result humbled us (most Democrat Party members are Chinese-Americans and Japanese-Americans). We are sensitive to racism issues. Our forefathers also taught us to not only be humble, but to be cheap and stingy as well (eg. parents taking home the leftovers from a restaurant meal). We don't have much of a temper. And, we have a sense of industry and diligence. Our diet is similar, in that we live by seafoods, vegetables, noodles and rice. We play and enjoy the same sports. We dress the same and follow the same trends at school. Our parents do not object a bit to our associating and dating (unlike interracial partners). We longed to leave the socioenvirons. of our respective Chinatowns and Japantowns, etc., but in the real world, we still find that we got people who resemble us so much. We also have a sense of communal responsibility, and that is why most Asian Pacific organizations and law offices are dominated by Chinese-Americans and Japanese-Americans. University professors in Asian-American studies are also mainly from these 2 ethnicities. The similarities go on, and I cannot list them all in one day...

Bottom line, is that Chinese-American and Japanese-American intermarriages are more common than we think.

Chinese-American boys fall in love with Japanese-American girls, and Chinese-American girls fall in love with Japanese-American boys. They see such vast similarities, but there is still the thrill and excitement of dating and marrying someone from a different ethnic background, no matter how similar they might be racially and culturally. Actually, from what I know the Chinese-Americans find some pleasing physical features among Japanese-Americans, and vice versa.

Japanese girls on average, I don't know, do not look better than HK girls.
But,there is a kind of uniqueness/charm about them that is peculiar of Japanese girls.
I was watching this Japanese soap the other day, I think it's called Tabloid. (has T.Kashiwabara in it) There is a girl in there that I think looks so typically Japanese, not the main charater but the other girl. That woman is not pretty at all, but there is like really cool uniqueness about her.
by the way, chinese girls i think look the best but many do not have as much charm in a sense.

Some might, bu they usually go crazy for Chinese/Korean celebrities. Then again, they go crazy for American celebrities as well.
Intermarriage rate in Japan is still VERY low.

Japanese girls from Japan are the most sexually open. In my opinion, even more so than other race women. They don't display it, but when you make a move, they will respond. They know all the tricks that you know.

Of course, you got to be nice to them.

Is it true that some Japanese families will actually disown their daughters for marrying a Chinese or Korean guy?

Japanese American girls are cool though. They outmarry not because they hate Japanese-American guys, but because they want something new. Sometimes, when you date or marry your own, it just feels like you are dating or marrying your own brother/sister. They are not hard to approach, and actually a couple of the Japanese American girls told me that they would give first chance to other Asian guys if they would have approached them. And, she asked me if it was true that Chinese, Viet and Flip guys go crazy for Japanese and Korean chicks.

I didn't know what to say. But, I said if I had a choice to kiss her or the other Chinese girls I knew, I wouldn't think twice and do it to her.

So, she started to play games with me. She asked me to go down and lick her light feet. I did. Up and down, and it ain't in Chinatown. She then asked me to bark like a dog. I did: "woof, woof, woof." She was laughing non-stop and I knew she was mine already.

She finally asked me to behave like a dog that night. I obeyed my master.

Two years and we are still together. It is serious now.

Let me shed more light for you. I actually lived in Japan for a while and find most Japanese girls incredibly better looking than HK girls, although most of them are shorter, and they tend to have much lighter skin tones. Their style are more elegant, like Burburrys and Ann Taylor. Most enjoy eating, drinking and shopping. If you really want to score some points, take them to a nice Italian or French restaurant is probably a good choice. They are much more polite and courteous than HK girls. And lots of bows of course

Also, are there any significant differences in approaching or treating a Japanese-American as compared to a pure Japanese girl?
