Some corrections with my previous posts:

*Rizal did not want independence from Spain (which was impossible at that time) he wanted reform. He wanted equal rights for the Filipinos becuase he believed they are the equal of the Spaniards.

*The Katipunan had a plan to launch a revolution against the Spaniards for freedom's sake but Rizal objectified in Bonifacio's project to plunge the country in bloody revolution for two reasons (1)the people are not ready for the revolution (2)arms and funds must be collected before raising cry of the revolution.

*Rizal was suspected of being the brain behind the plot. This was the caused he was shot and killed in Luneta.

--------------
His contribution in Science

Rizal found Mindanao a rich virgin field for collecting specimens. With his baroto (sailboat) and accompanied by his pupils, he explored thejungles and coasts, seeking specimens of insects, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, shells, and plants. He sent these specimens to the museum of Europe especially the Dresden Museum. In payment for these valuable specimens, the European Scientist sent him scientific books and surgical instruments.

During his four year exile in Dapitan, Rizal built up a rich collection of concology which consisted of 346 shells representing 203 species.

Rare specimens were discovered and named after him: Among these were Draco Rizali (a flying dragon), Apogonia rizali (a small beetle),and Rhacophorus rizali (a rare frog).

My apologies for my misinformations, I'm not well-versed about the story of the life of Dr. Jose Rizal and all his projects and achievements.

Octavio:

"Theres no such think as a pure malay"

And what do you call 95% of the Filipino population? Are we not Malay? Now even you are trying to lie to yourself and the world. Do you think that by saying and repeatedly telling yourself that you are mixed will make you mixed? What is so bad about being a pure Malay? Check the Filipino census records, it states that 95% of us are Malay, and the rest are Negritos and 1% are mestizos of Spanish mix, and 1% are mestizos of Chinese mix. Do you think you are a mestizo? Do you think 95% of the Filipinos are mestizos? Look at our people, we are definitely not mestizos.
And the sooner we get this mentality of thinking the-white-the-better the sooner we as a people will be physiologically healthier.

The Spanish didn’t mix with the Philippines like they did with the Indians in Latin America. They didn’t want Asian-Spanish half-breeds, but they were more than happy to have Indian-Spanish kids. Many conquistadors in America married to Indian wives and had children and then these Spaniards were willing to treason against Spain to help liberate their mestizo children (Who by then had become more than 60% of the population) from the tyranny of the crown.. And that’s only accounting for the legitimate mestizos of America, there were many more millions who were the result of raping of Indian women.
There is only one thing I have to thank the Spaniards for, and that is for not killing the Malay men and for not destroying our race like they destroyed the Indians. They destroyed everything in our country except our race. In America they killed all the Indian men, and either raped the women or took them up as wives and settled with them to raise their mixed kids.

We should be happy that what happened in America didn’t happen to us. We are lucky we the Malays survived and still constitute more than 95% of our country. Unlike in Latin America where the true owners of the American continent now only represent 10% and their numbers are still declining over time, we are very lucky because we are still the majority, and we will continue to be the majority as long as we have pride in ourselves. Imagine if the Philippines had only 10% Malays. That would be a tragedy for our nation and our race, and we could never recover from it, it would only deteriorate for us until we became extinct.

Victoria:

“His desires were to educate the Filipinos for them to be civilized and equal to the Spaniards”

Why is this? Because he believed we were uncivilized and not equal, he believed we were not human equals to the spaniards, thus his desire to prove the opposite!!

“He wanted to prove to the Spaniards that the Filipinos are not inferior to them.”

Why should we prove anything to anyone but ourselves? The fact that he wanted to gain credence from the Spaniards shows how much of an inferioty complex he had. What would you say of a black nowadays who sought after the approval of whites? You'd say he was pathetic because he needs the approval and sanction of another race to validate himself and what he does. Why should we only believe we are worthy human beings only when whites approve it. You will be waiting forever you idiot.

But most of all I take offence at the fact that YOU, a supposed Filipina, thinks that without the Spaniards, Filipinos are uncivilized and would still be uncivilised and humanly inferior and unequal. You Spanish sympathizer!. You make me sick!!! I wish you were not a Filipina., you make me ashamed to come from the same country as you!!!!!!! Go have your desperately desired mestizo children, you white-washed, approval seeking low-self-esteem excuse of a Filipina!!!!! It’s not natural for humans, or any animal for that matter, to want to make himself extinct. But here you are, proof that it is in the psych of the Malay Filipina.

And no, Rizal was not a mix, read his biography. He was a full-blooded Malay. No Chinese, and certainly no Spanish mix. And even if this were true. Look at him, if he were part Spanish or Chinese, he would be 1/30th.

I would like to comment on how some Filipinos are always claiming their Spanish ancestry. The truth is we Filipinos are not Spanish, do you people actually think the Spaniards see us Filipinos as one of them?!! Quit fooling yourselves. To them we Filipinos are nothing but "chinos" in their eyes. And besides, only a small number of Filipinos actually have Spanish blood. And the whole world see the Phillipines as and Asian country. And when they see Filipinos, they see Asian faces. The Roman Catholic Faith and Spanish surnames does not make us Spanish or European. We Filipinos have our own indeginous language and religion. And I don't want anything to do with does White/European colonialists. To them, we are nothing but chinks.

There are two types of Asian looks, the Oriental look and the Malay look. In southeast Asia, people tend to be more Malay looking with bigger eyes and darker skin. In northern Asia(China,Korea, and Japan) people tend to have lighter skin and smaller eyes. But at the same time, there are some Malay looking Northern Asians and a lot of Oriental looking people in southeast Asia. So whether you are a slanted eyed or wide eyed Asian, we are still Asian. So lets stop all this self hatred.

To get ur mind straight,

Dr. Jose Rizal was FILIPINO-Chinese-Spanish! Put it in the right order! FILIPINO FIRST! Rizal was 60% Malay and probably 40% mixes of Chinese and Spanish.

Rizal is a Filipino national hero. The man with numerous talents, vocations, and achievemensts in his short life. He did not want revolution because he was using his good judgment. He was wise enough to assess that the Filipino people were not prepared and “equipped” yet to fight the Spaniards. He anticipated there will only be bloodsheds and the war will be futile. Instead he believed in education. His desires were to educate the Filipinos for them to be civilized and equal to the Spaniards. He wanted to prove to the Spaniards that the Filipinos are not inferior to them. He himself studied in Europe to educate himself. He wrote the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Felibusterismo to open the minds of the Filipino people about the hypocrisy of the friars and the Catholic church, and the wrongdoings of the Spanish rulers in the Philippines. His writings angered the Spaniards, he was abducted, and shot and killed in Luneta. His death caused massive grief and anger to the Filipino people. This was the start of the Filipino Revolution which was lead by the Katipuneros. Andres Bonifacio ,another Filipino hero, was the founder of the Katipunan. The death of Rizal can be compared to the assassination of Ninoy Aquino. The death of both these men had served to ignite the courage and spirit of Filipinos to fight for freedom. History repeats itself.

Rizal was not perfect, he was only human, but he did the best he could possibly do for his people. He fell in love with an Irish woman(Josephine Bracken) because he was exposed to many different races of women. But did he not fell in love too with a Filipina woman named Maria Leonor Rivera? Rizal may have had his own personal ambition to rise to power, but is it bad to have an ambition when you know that you are good? Rizal had LIVED his life for his country and for the Filipinos. He is a pride of the Filipinos.

Rizal was a genius. He was a doctor, statesman, writer/novelist, poet, linguist, professor, painter, sculptor, inventor, engineer, entrepreneur, agriculturalist, scientist, martial artist, sports enthusiast and among all others the helper of the poor and the sick.

Rizal as a Professor

Rizal taught his studenst reading, writing, languages (Spanish and English), geography, history, mathematics, arithmetic and geometry, industrial work, nature study, morals and gymnastics. He trained them how to collect specimens of plants and animals, to love work, and to "behave like men".

Rizal as a linguist

Rizal could rank with the world’s great linguists. He knew 22 languages, as follows: Tagalog, Ilokano, Bisayan, Subanon, Spanish, Latin, Greek, English, French, German, Arabic, Malay, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Dutch, Catalan, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Swedish, and Russian.

His Contributions to Science

Rizal found Mindanao a rich virgin field for collecting specimens. With his baroto (sailboat) and accompanied by his pupils, he explored thejungles and coasts, seeking specimens of insects, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, shells, and plants.

Rizal also conducted anthropological, ethnographical, archeological, geological, and geographical studies as revealed by scientist friend in Europe. There was no limit to his scientific versatility.

"Not only is Rizal the most famous man of his own people, but the greatest man the Malayan race has produced."

-Ferdinand Blumentritt

"Dr. Jose Rizal was an exceptional man, unsurpassed by other Filipino heroes in talent, nobility of character and patriotism. His exile in Dapitan possesses a keen sense of history and an aura of destiny. Indeed, Rizal was a man of excellence, discipline and disposition........."
