You're an idiot. The first asain gang in NYC was the Black Hawks in 1935. They were mostly Toi San.

You're another idiot. Only people in remote villages in China refuse to speak mandarin, because of lack of good schools. Everyone else is trying to get their city resident and wants to learn and speak mandarin. No one on HK is refusing to speak mandarin. I was there before and after '97, they all want to learn.

"Putong" - means common, not petty. Get the shading of your translation right.

"Tang" - is a dynasty the Cantonese ruled. They are proud of that fact. They are proud of the Tang Shi, the collection of famous poem during their dynasty. Proud doesn't mean they look down on everyone else.

"Tain bu pa, di bu pa, zi pa guangdong ren shuo guanhua" - It is a sterotype, norhterner use to make fun of Cantonese decendents in HK, because of colonialism, they never learn manadarin for a long time. But they wanted to learn to do business in China and it sounded horrible. Go to any city in Guangdong province. They speak mandarin very well.

The Solution,

I don't think you meant anything bad or racist so don't take this the wrong way but man, I am sick of this nonsense. Fine by me if this were this to happen in the future. Filipinos are for the most part good people and hard workers. Since it seems many East Asians will never respect or accept them, I would like to be the first to say that they would be a great addition to Latinos (if they wanted this). It is sad that because Filipinos are a little darker on average than most Asians or mixed with another race that no one wants to associate with this group.

I've got news for some people here; there are some really smart and successful Filipino/as out there. To put them down because they are mixed is a backwards notion that will be laughed at in the future. Your kids may laugh at you when you get older the same way we currently laugh at old Southern bigots and Archie Bunker types. No, sorry, Filipinos are O.K in my book. And if they ever want to be classified as Latinos, I'll be the first to welcome them.

BTW, what and the hell are you going to do with regards to all of these affluent white/Asian hapa kids? You're not going to accept them either if they become a part of your family? How ridiculous is that? Pretty soon pure breeds of people are going to be the minority as opposed to the majority. Non-mixed people may very well be the butt of many jokes in the future or thought of as dull, boring, backwards and generally un-cool in every way.

No offense to all of the open minded East Asians and others out there who don't give a crap about what a person looks like so long as they are respectable.

Chinese...smart..sweet...sexy...Chinese people rock! But so do all asians we're all good and I doubt that one nationalty or even race is better than another. Every culture has it's up sides and their down.

Basically, we Filipinos have a lot of bloods within us, thanks to Japanese, Americans and Spanish coming to our lands. That is why we are a predominantly Catholic country, and why most of our last names are Spanish, because SPANIARDS came to our country. And you mis-spelled Philipinos. It's Filipinos. I guess you weren't "pondering" that long.
