It's funny you mention that.

The Korean words for mom and dad "umma" and "appa" are exactly the same as the words for mom and dad in Tamil and Malayalam. The accent is more or less the same too. In Sinhalese, i think "appa" is the same.

Plus, Koreans and Japanese eat curry...dun dun dun~

Gee I hope I like for 200 years. I would really like to see my asian people become a powerful nation, just like in ancient china, they gave gunpowder, compasses, huge sailing vessels, stirrup's,harnesses, etc
and in return they came with guns and bombs.

Now they gave guns and bombs to us, also computer technology, can anyone imagine what it will be like in the future?

So I heard phillipino's call us little? Arent the chinese the tallest in asia? With the koreans also? Also, I think the north chinese are taller than many caucasians.

I heard something about chinese girls trying to be white by lightening their skin . ALso skin whiteners are the highest selling cosmetic product in china.Well it has nothing to do with being caucasian, if we were trying to be like them, we would get a tan!Chinese girls lighten because according to ancient chinese tradition(also modern)A women who is white is more feminine and delicate, whereas a man who is light is not attractive.Ask anybody who think very chinese they will say that.I think the caucasians are so stuck up and thinking they are the best looking, it makes me sick.

I watched discovery channel on beauty and they say, "In the east, beauty is looking like the west" And they asked a hair designer from hong kong (I understand cantonese) and she just said people like looking modern, and on the text, it says people want to look like caucasian.DAMN those caucasians!And if you are from china, japan or korean, call them red people not white, I've seen many of us lighter than them.ASk any body who is from china and they will associate caucasians with stupid and ugly, they wont even consider them people.

Heres something common in a conversation of chinese females in the work place who are chinese oriented:

Susu: *in cantonese* REALLY? human or ghost (which in china when we see someone weird looking we say that, like if someone wore alot of eyeshadow and look non-chinese and caucasians do have permanent eye shadow because of their sunken eyes)

We dont even consider caucasians people! Why would we want to look like them!?

Also, chinese are tall! If you exclude people of the old generation who are recovering from the poor leadership of the ching dynasty*led by non chinese peoples*where millions of people shrank because the lack of rice! The tang dynasties recorded people to be 7 ft tall as a desired height!I checked 1 ft in china is actually bigger than one the west.And also kung fu people who stunt their growth.

does meaning from the same language family mean they are from the same race? Well I dont think Japanese look a bit caucasian cause they are pretty nice looking. Cause I heard sino tibetan language family includes china and tibet and others, but it doesn't mean we are one people.

Most Filipino people are of Malay genes mixed with some Chinese genes. The negritos are the aborigines of this islands. When the Malay "invaders" came to this islands they did not intermarry with the negritos, that is why *MOST* Filipinos are of Malay genes.

Extremely proud japanese will not admit to be chinese?Excuse my arrogance!I would kill myself this instance if I found out i am not chinese.So japanese have as much pride as the chinese eh?

ANd also, facial features of koreans, chinese proper , taiwan, and japan dont differ too much from each other, cept that body types are more different.You see....shanghai women have small lips...maybe a japanese women also has small lips?it's not as different as the sunken eyes, large brow bones, gaping mouth, huge noses of the caucasians too compare with ya know.

It's bad enough your classifying shanghai with fujian guangdong and fujian with japan, but calling them malay?
I am from guanddong, we look nothing like the shanghainese.In hongkong, we marvel at shanghai ladies creamy white skin ,refreshing and lively eyes, and also at their tiny tiny lips.Malays on the other hand, have big big eyes ,large mouths, and tanned skin.
Also I think japanese look very beautiful much more than the malaysians.It would be insulting if you called shanghai,guangdong,and fujian's a little bit malaysian looking, according to our culture.

And it is possible for you to get confused about japanese , korean, and chinese peoples.I sometimes even mistaken one for another.Like they say japanese are short, but it is possible for them to be tall and you might think they are north chinese.

Bottom Line,

WHy did you say manchu's, koreans, mongols and gulp us north chinese are similar?I dont think so.

I beleive we are taller , lighter skinned, more civilized and have much more relaxed features than manchus and mongols.Koreans on the other hand, I think look alot like japanese people, cept they are slightly taller, sort of like the height of a shanghai person(not really tall, but okay)ANd also are light skinned plus relax features.

MANCHURIANS? MONGOLS? DOnt people of china discriminate these minorities as northern barbarians who have crinkly skin,I dont think they are like us though.I remember when I was young, I asked my grandma about the manchu's and she said they look mongolian and are fat people and are not nearly as beautiful as the chinese.

I still beleive in it!Go to mongolia or look at pictures!You can compare the differences,CHina proper is one people( ya know china but excluding xinziang,xizong,manchuria,nei mongol and yunnan.)

After reading some of the postings in Goldsea, I have noticed that there are a few ethnic Chinese who have this bizarre belief that everything that goes on in this world (no matter how insignificant the event) is somehow connected with China, or with the actions of an unknown Chinese person. I often wonder if it’s cultural. A very interesting comparison would be India. They too have an enormous population and a history equal in length to China. I’m curious to see if ethnic Indians have a belief that the world revolves around them too.
