WHAT YOU SAY

World Geography Teacher,
What difference does it make when it all used to be one big land mass anyhow? Furthermore, I believe DC Dude's comments are completely founded due to the fact that civilizations and formulaic spoken languages did not form until after "the continental plates slammed into each other millions of years ago" which is really the relevant point of DC Dude's anthropological and linguistic linkages.
Maybe you should take a class in anthropology and history.

Blue Movie Star,
I don't know, I've hardly ever been called "orang putih" before. But there were a few times, my friends say it for fun coz I did something stupid. I don't find that offensive though

I'm thankful for each response to my post. I've learned much from what you've had to say so far. After learning that the names of Asian countries and the continent itself has European origins, I personally have lost interest in crusading to change their names at all. Time to focus on somethin else...
It's funny how the poll questions are just a reflection of the allegiances of the visitors to goldsea and not an objective standard of any kind at all. So I voted Indian on both polls since they were lagging. Let's go Indians!!

You missed one:
"Asian & Latino = LatAsian or Latin Hapa. Yeah, they're out there too..."
A Latino can be one of three things.
1) Caucasian from Iberia (Spain & Portugal) and those descended from Iberians born in Latin America
2) A Mestizo (White/Amerindian) of Latin America
3) A Mulatto (White/Black) of Latin America
*Blacks, Amerindians and Sambos(Amerindian/Black) of Latin America aren't Latino. As such, Latino is not a race, and hence, a LatAsian as a definition for those of mixed race cannot exist. Furthermore, to call this "racial mix" a "Latino Hapa" is even worse, since there is no sign of Polynesian descent in the mix of the so called "LatAsian".
A LatAsian which you say is a "mixed race" could be any of these mixes: white/asian (which would be a eurasian anyway), mestizo/asian (which would be a Mestasian) or mulatto/asian (which would be a Mulasian).
Latino + Asian = Eurasian or Mestasian or Mulasian.
I didn't miss anything

WT,
Thanks.
I'll make sure to correct the next English illiterate Taiwanese on the correct romanization of Shohto.
Once I regained my literacy I let my skill in romanization fall to the way side. An unnecessary crutch so to say. ^_^
Microsoft spell check and grammer check has already attritioned my English skills as we speak. ^_^

penelope,
If you think about it Ancient China was very diplomatic when the foreigner came. They gave names like
German - "De Guo" Just Country
France - "Fa Guo" Law Country
USA - "Mei Guo" Beautiful Country
England - "Ying Guo" Brave Country
Too bad it didn't stop them from invading. We should just give them phonectic names in hindsight:
Portugal - "Pu Tao Ya" Grape Country

"peking" vs. "beijing"
"Canton" vs. "Guangdong"
That has more to do with meeting western being in contact with Cantonese speaking Chinese before Mandarin Speaking one.

DC Dude:
While Asia and Europe are one big land mass, they are in fact on separate continental plates. The Ural Mountains in the Ukraine are where the contintenal plates slammed into each other millions of years ago.
India is also on a separate continental plate as well--it broke off of Antarctica millions of years ago, and when it slammed into the Asian continental plate, it created the Himalaya Mountain range. The people there are noticably different from East Asians because they were native to that continental plate.
Clearly there are differences between North and South America, as well as Africa versus Europe, India and Asia. The north American continent has a piece of Eastern Asia joined to it on the West Coast. Much of Southern and Central California, west of the Sierra Madre Mountains was part of the Asian Continental plate which broke off Aeons ago.
You need to take a class in geography and geology, DC Dude
