This board is not 90% anti Filipino, just this particular section of Goldsea (and it's not just Filipino, it's anti-people in general). I have been hanging out here for awhile and have noticed the trends, and I stay the hell away from this particular poll (Comparing Asian Nationalities) because it's usually so unfriendly and is used as a venting place for Asians of all groups to bash one another. It doesn't matter what nationality you are, you WILL be bashed in here. For awhile, it was the Vietnamese who got demolished, and then the mob turned on the Koreans who took the brunt for awhile, and then the Japanese took their turn, and then the Chinese got it next, and ofcourse, the Indians (and they get it worse than anyone because they really don't look Asian in the narrow-minded point of view of many people), and now, it's the Filipinos' turn. Just stay away from this evil place and go have fun in another section where friendlier folks go to hang out and chat.

my 2 cents--

You are definitely right, those fascists scum make me sick. But like you said for yourself, it's important to make a distinction--because if you castigate EVERYONE, they might simply spew forth more fascist dribble back at you, as radical views often is met with more radical views.

You said yourself that Korean Americans appear to be more fascist--I am Korean American, and we are a pretty diverse group even within ourselves. There are KAs that grow up in big metropolitan areas, then there are KAs that grow up in suburbs. There are KAs that grow up in predominantly black neighborhoods, and there are KAs that grow up in predominantly latino neighborhoods.

When you go on a website and you encounter fascists, it's not very productive to become overly emotional and engage in verbal attacks--certainly you can "win" an argument, but what does it do, but illicit more fascism? It's better to tone down, and show them the errors of their ways without condescension.

I know a lot of KAs that you are talking about. Sometimes I hear them say, "You don't follow K-pop? you are whitewashed!" funny thing is, they don't even understand the lyrics... their fascism probably stems from insecurities stemming from some other personal aspect of their life.

What is with the Asian-bashing, making a reference to Korean-bashing in this poll room? I've had good Asian friends; matter of fact, I had some good friends world-wide. Don't judge an entire group of people based on a small displaced sample that you have run into in your life time. My experience with Koreans have been great.

Just Me,

The reason why a lot of "main landers" are anti-Filipino is because we just don't care what they think about us. Just one of the qualities my ABC gf finds endearing...

Or is it because filipinos are the only asians who would drive American cars?

First of all:

THE FACTS:
The term Filipino denotes someone having been born in the Philippine archipeligo. Filipino is a nationality. IT IS NOT A RACE. The Philippines consists of 7100 islands and has over 169 different ethnic groups. This term includes all malay groups, the Chinese (who along with the Indians who have been living in the country since the colonial days), Philippine born Spaniards, and other Europeans, as well as Philippine born Americans.

Tagalog is the official language, but it is only spoken by 20% of the population (in terms of first language). I do not speak or understand Tagalog, because I am not from the Tagalog ethnic group.

All Philippine languages are related to all Malay langauges, but are infused with loan words from Spanish, Chinese, Natuhul (indigineous Mexican language), and English.

Filipinos speak English because the Islands were part of the US from 1898-1946. It was instituted in the schools and government because there is was no way to communicate between different ethnic groups.

Many Filipinos have Spanish names because it was decreed in 1849 that everyone on the Islands had to adapt Spanish surnames for tax and census purposes. That included all the Ethnic Chinese, Japanese, and Indians who lived on the archipeligo. Not too many Filipinos know this fact.

FALSEHOODS:
Filipinos are mixed. Some are, but not to the extent that some Filipinos believe. In 1890 the population was 5 million. According to records, there were 120 000 mixed Chinese-Malays, and 50 000 mixed Malay-Spanish during that period. When Filipinos state that they are Malay-Spanish-Chinese, they are refering to their culture which is definately a combination of all 3.

Filipinos want to be white. No! You have sellouts of every nationality. Filipinos adapt well in the US because we understand American culture due to being governed by the US for nearly 50 yeas.

Filipinos identify themselves as Latino. No! Some Filipinos can see themselves as Latino because we share a similar culture and religion with Latinos, but we are not Latino.

Just Me :
Get some self esteem! Coreans don't need anyone's approval, so mind your own damn Filipino business.
Oh, reason why you think other Asians don't like Filipinos maybe has to do with your low self esteem and pretending to be Hispanic, for whatever reason you people think its advantageous. Got me!

Unpretty:
Don't hate, Coreans girls know they got the best in us, wouldn't even give you the time of day. So stick with your own kind. You don't see us cracking on your girls, hahaha.

In Hong Kong, Fillipino's are looked down on. Almost all only get jobs like maids or street sweepers.

poky, thanks for telling us about what Corea did to the Vietnamese during the Vietnam war. I'm a Corean American and I never knew about this until you posted your comments. from my intial research on the web I think your claim is true. this kind of turned my world upside down. although I can't speak for all of Corea, I can say that I'm sorry for what Corea did to the Vietnamese during that war.

as for native korean man I understand what you're saying about Coreans, but I think you need make the people aware that the Corean people had to deal with many many things. most of the people you've mentioned are childrens of WWII and the Corean war. Millions of Coreans died during these wars. after the wars these coreans had to deal with political chaos and bloody dictatorships. I don't know how I would act if I had to go through all of that. By just stating that older coreans act evil without talking about the chaotic environment they had to live in is being unfair.

AA Worldviews,

"Western ideas- individualism, humanism."

I've been pondering this sentence for quite a bit. I understand you trying to state Christianity is outside of Western Culture, in trying to debase my original comment of "Western Christianity."

But for the argument to work you are stating that individualism and humanism (could you also offer a definition of this novel coined word) were exclusive to the Western culture. Hence, Asia had no concept of individuals and humanity.

Now not to be rude, but what kind of DWG or AA white wash logic is that.

There are countless example laws protecting individuals in ancient and modern China. As for humanism, you best define this term, I've never heard of this term from a philosophical/socialogical/anthopological point of veiw.

Straight To The Point,

I think you misread my previous post. The comment was to somebody else who posted a while back.

It is becoming obvious you will need to increase your reading skills if you wish to obtain any degree at all
